so its that time of year, again... have to do the 'ol company xmas card...as usual, dont have a ton of time to spend on it...so it couldnt be any kind of complex scene.. ibon's post with the hypershot-rendered legos gave me an idea.. so i decided to put together a lego xmas scene
here's what i've got so far...both built with individual pieces (why not..haha..its fun) and from following instructions on lego.com.. still have to straighten out the materials, but here's a start..
have a few more pieces to put together before assembling the scene.. i think i'm going to replace the 'lego' on the bricks with my company name in the lego font

Very cool. The legos look great.

Jason,
This is one of those things that others will probably not notice right away if at all. Everyone knows that is where the "Lego" logo is so it will appear correct, if they do notice it and notice that it is your logo then they will know it is an artistic touch. I like it. It makes it personal and thats the point. I would put a small bevel on the extruded bumps though. They look a bit sharp up close, but if there will not be an extreme close shot then it is not worth the extra polys.
Great work.

i think i will end up doing a close up shot like the one above.. to show it off..haha.. yeah, definitely too sharp.. it was giving me issues with the cylinder in su.. but it definitely needs it.

very nice, marked001

Jason, why not a lego wall, window and/or door in the background, like you're looking into a lego livingroom on Christmas morning and how bout some sort of star or such on the tree that incorporates your logo, just ideas.

mike...i did have that thought..and its not dead, i was just having a problem exporting it... believe it or not, its alot of gemoetry with so many soft edges..so i need to break it up since instancing doesnt seem to be helping for some reason....
anywho, here is the sketchup scene with the house.. let me know what you guys think.
i'd really like to get the 'logo lego' to work somehow.. i'm going to use a postcard with a panoramic format.. so maybe i can have the blowup of the lego cropped and taking up the entire end..
-
Very nice, Jason...
(But... For some reason I liked your X-mas postcard better last year... )

Great work Jason!

Jason,
Your little image is about the only thing to warm this Scrooge's cockles (the heart kind) this year. Did you know there's a Lego Bible?
Merry Christmas,
Peter
