God bless America!

I would like to think that this couldn't happen in the UK
but after the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes I am no longer sure.

What that makes it justified to be carried out on a much larger scale against a even more entranched ethnic minority does it? 'God bless America!'? I have never heard of a more nauseating non-sense.

I am still feeling sick right now! I can't believe anyone can feel this way. Surely you don't mean to say that makes it justified in US? Cus thats what the title suggests.

Dear Chango70,
I am sorry if my attempt at irony caused offence. The title of the post was meant to be ironic, and does not reflect how I feel about the incident. However, I am deeply concerned about all the new powers that the police have been given, both here and in the US.
Regards,

BobOk the irony part didn't stick. Sorry for the over reaction. I think you'll find the fire-arm officer who took the shot broke down in tears, that says a lot about the difference between UK and US don't you think? I agree powers are a traversty however they haven't been given an easy time in the British parliament.

Misunderstandings of irony aside, I've got to say I don't find the content of this video all that objectionable and the implication that it could only happen in America (because of the title) is very unfair IMO. If you sat at your computer searching YouTube for a day you could probably find footage of "police being heavy handed" incidents from any country in the world. The only difference between the reaction of UK and US police would be that the chances that a drunk driver in the UK would be carrying a gun would be extremely slim, whereas in the US it would be much more likely. I've seen enough videos of US cops going about their duty, pulling over dangerous drivers and then being shot/murdered by the driver or his passengers to be surprised that they didn't taze this guy the second he put his hands in his pockets. I'm surprised traffic cops don't make dangerous drivers and their passengers get out of the car and lie face down before they even get out of the car and approach them; why risk being murdered just for doing your job?
