"Joe the Plumber"...err Samuel is his real name
-
LOL, and McCain today said that Joe the plumber was the winner of last nights debate.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081016/ap_on_el_pr/mccain
He really is out of touch, poor sap is now under investigation as well as his boss for operating without a license for six years in a county that requires all plumbers to be certified and licensed.

OK I can't resist this humorous analogy. Well funny to me that is.
That Swishing sound you hear is McCain's bid for the presidency being flushed down Joe's toilet...
If it turns out "Joe" was a plant or him or his boss were doing anything that violates state license laws I'll bet the republicans can't wait to flush him down the proverbial drain.

I want to give you credit your political opinion is quite often in the minority on this forum and yet you continually express your honest opinion and do so in a respectful manner. I admire that and welcome your comments. I've followed many of the links you post and laughed at some of the things that you find humorous.
We are after all on a Sketchup forum and after the dust settles in this election I'm sure we can all agree that the things we have in common are far greater and more important than the things we differ on.
Soon we can all go back to discussing Sketchup and the pending version 7 release. Soon we can all go back to being impressed by each others latest sketchup endeavor. Let's all agree that although politics are important they are not what define who we are.
Unfortunately for Samuel he became a little too public with his politics and it could very well be detrimental to his future. I would wager to say that on November 5th 99.999% of the American public will simply not give a crap about Joe the plumber but if in his 15 minutes of fame it turns out that he forever altered his life in a detrimental way by stepping into the meat grinder I'm sure him and those people around him that will most certainly be affected by his decisions will regret it.

John McCain just cannot catch a break it seems, just as he thought he had a scoring 'Joe' (as Joe sixpack didn't resonate well) it all goes south for him. I see he has now changed his campaign yet again, this time he plans to diss Bush and put distance between himself and the current administration, too little too late IMO.
-
Yes Pete you are right John McCain has an identity crisis. He is shifting campaign slogans faster than a crooked blackjack dealer shuffles the deck.
He can't be for Bush that would be suicide unless he's speaking to a republicans only diner. He can't be PRO war unless he's speaking to a veterans gathering. He can't be be the candidate for change with 30+ years in public office, unless the real candidate for change is winning and the American public is crying for change.
To be honest I simply can not understand why we are even discussing a close race at times given all of the hats John McCain must wear to keep people happy.
How many times has his campaign changed its slogan? How many campaign staff that he started with are still there?
You have to give the republicans credit for keeping their candidate alive and kicking despite the seemingly insurmountable odds against them.
Now I do hope that McChameleon turns back into a generic senator from Arizona on November 5th, but he deserves a lot of credit for keeping this election exciting.
Besides He's a lot less scary than Mitt Romney, or Rudy Those two guys scared the dickens out of me.

I hate to bring facts into this discussion. But, his campaign slogan has been "Country First" at least since he won the primaries.
OK, now back to the Twilight Zone...

Didnt get elected for class representative then bruce?
(Twas a joke btw, its so easy to offend when you cant speak to a persons face.)

David there's no room in here for Facts. I am greatly offended that you feel the need to discuss FACTS. I'm also going to file a racial discrimination suit on behalf of the word FICTION because it obvious that you are discriminating against the word FICTION solely based on the number of letters in the word.
LOL! We do still need to have a sense of humor don't we.

Appreciate the comments, Phil. I hope I'm still using SketchUp when V7 is released!! I'm about at the end of my architectural career, I think. I'm just not sure I want to make 18-20 month commitments anymore. And that's what it takes to do a house from design through construction. That's a chunk of time. Maybe I'll try to focus on additions and remodels. In some ways they're more fun because they become like little design charettes by comparision.
Sorry, I digressed....

That's precisely why I love doing 3d graphics projects. Client X calls and says we have two weeks before our presentation can you get this done. I say yes....work night and day for two weeks and upon delivery of said graphics....Blamo my involvement is over...No liabilities...No call backs...No un-foreseen conditions...
Even though a house project is done we are still responsible for the project and our liability related to the project continues on.
But I thought Architects did not retire but rather worked until they croak and we need to pry the parallel bar from their cold stiff hands.
Given the state of my finances that's my retirement plan.
-
Parallel bar, huh? LOL...I draw everything by hand, including CD's. I use SU to explore ideas and make presentations to the client. In the 80's my development partner and I (he was a contractor) build some apartments and over the course of time, sold some, kept some, I bought him out and now have some rental income so I don't necessarily need to rely on architecture. Although, when my current project is finished, I can tell you I will definitely miss the income!
What kind of 3D graphics projects do you do? Are they not architecturally related?
Edit: Boy have I hijacked this thread or WHAT?
-
Most, or at least more, of the conversation between Obama and "Joe" (maybe Barack mentions welfare sometime after this clip stops...?):
-
Ron
yes the 3d graphics are architecture related but unless they are for my own architecture than I have no liability associated with them.
In fact I am in the process of spinning off my 3d graphics work under a separate company since my liability insurance premium is partial determined by my revenue and if I can separate ALL the work I do for other companies that would not requires a license then my "architure" fees that I must report to my insurance carrier can go down.
check out my graphics examples
-
Very nice portfolio, Phil. I love the Nvizeon (sp?). It's like the FireFox's PicLens. Wonderful way to display your work. Spinning of your non-architectural work is smart. The last time I carried it, my client sued me specifically BECAUSE I had insurance. The case was eventually dropped, but only after I'd spent my $5,000 deductible.
-
Thanks Ron I just did a quick web slide show to kick start the process
I'm working on the real website but real paying projects are getting in the way.
here's a taste of what the real site will look like:
-
WOW...cool 3D presentation! I'm not too keen on the music, though.
-
Yea it was a flash/xml template I'm attempting to modify. key word "attempting" I'm getting too old to learn new applications. I could just change the mp3 that the template references to nothing but I have not figured out how to delete the icons for the different music selections. Oh well when you are a control freak like me and you want to do everything yourself like create your own website versus hiring someone to do it. Then you suffer the consequences.
So do you think Joe the Plumber will actually appear with John McCain I understand he has been invited to appear on the campaign with him. If this guy was truly just an average citizen who happen to get to meet Barack Obama, Well he should be laughing all the way to the bank right now because his story is I'm sure for sale to the highest bidder right now. He may be able to afford that plumbing business after all.
-
Joe is appearing on Fox tonight. I would guess Joe would not campaign with McCain (hey, that rhymes!). So the main stream liberal media has been camped outside Joe's door just waiting to pounce and trip him up. Whey the hell didn't they camp outside Ayers' door in their unbiased quest for news.
