      Thanks Adam!

      Here's Hypershot homepage.
      http://www.bunkspeed.com/hypershot/index.html

They were renderes in 3-5 minutes with my portable computer (Intel core 2 duo, 2 cores of 2200 Mhz, 2Gb Ram & 512 mb nvidia videocard). You only have to import the sketchup model, assign plastic material to some things and glass material to others. Then, tweak some things in plastics (Roughness 0.1 & Ior 1.5) and Ior in glass (2). Thats all

Which version of Hypershot are you using? The stuff in their gallery is simply amazing. I see that you can import .skp files directly. I might have to give it a try. It's a shame they don't offer trial versions.

Yes, it opens skp files directly. I'm using Hypershot Pro v1.5. Here´s the demo:

very cool.. one thing that'd make some of the 'walls' that much more realistic (castle) is a bump map applied to make it look like individual blocks... awesome stuff though, keep em coming.

Ha, wow... I just noticed that you rendered my Starwars lego pod racer.
It looks awesome as do all the other renderings here. You certainly have skills.

The only crit I have is in agreement with Jason. The only thing standing out are the seams between the legos. Easily done with a bumpmap. That would finish these perfectly.

You're right scottpara. I've tried it, but hypershot doesn't handle bump maps very well, it needs normal maps. I've tried to make a good one, but i can't, sorry. I don't know how to do it 😞

Well if the sketchup drawing shows the division between blocks you could do an overlay with the sketchup lines... just barely make them visible...

Thanks for the suggestion, BubbaLove. I would like to do it, but unfortunately hypershot doesn't support sketchup scenes and/or camera positions. Maybe in hypershot 2.0...

Ahh yea... I guess it would take a lot of work to line them up right... oh well!

is the model actual individual blocks? 😄

Well, it's divided in more blocks than in the render, i don't think that they correspond with LEGO real pieces. See:

They look pretty accurate from what I remember when I was a kid... but have to admit that I bought the Bat-mobile when it came out... 😆

ah ok..i see.... i didnt think it was all small blocks 😄 if it was though, you could soften all of the edges and that would show you the individual blocks.. would def put these over the top.... they're right there though.. loving them.
