Great stuff.
Makes me want to pull out my space legos
-
Thanks Boofredlay!

very cool.. one thing that'd make some of the 'walls' that much more realistic (castle) is a bump map applied to make it look like individual blocks... awesome stuff though, keep em coming.
-
Ha, wow... I just noticed that you rendered my Starwars lego pod racer.
It looks awesome as do all the other renderings here. You certainly have skills. -
-
The only crit I have is in agreement with Jason. The only thing standing out are the seams between the legos. Easily done with a bumpmap. That would finish these perfectly.

You're right scottpara. I've tried it, but hypershot doesn't handle bump maps very well, it needs normal maps. I've tried to make a good one, but i can't, sorry. I don't know how to do it
-
Well if the sketchup drawing shows the division between blocks you could do an overlay with the sketchup lines... just barely make them visible...
-
Thanks for the suggestion, BubbaLove. I would like to do it, but unfortunately hypershot doesn't support sketchup scenes and/or camera positions. Maybe in hypershot 2.0...
-
Ahh yea... I guess it would take a lot of work to line them up right... oh well!
-
is the model actual individual blocks?
-
-
They look pretty accurate from what I remember when I was a kid... but have to admit that I bought the Bat-mobile when it came out...
-
ah ok..i see.... i didnt think it was all small blocks if it was though, you could soften all of the edges and that would show you the individual blocks.. would def put these over the top.... they're right there though.. loving them.

Ibon,
a great program for making textures and associated normal maps is Genetica.
http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/gen2tour/index.htm
I use this for a lot of my custom textures. It does a great job of making them seamless and the new version coming out is even better. I was lucky enough to be able to beta test it and I can say it is very much worth it.
Obviously these are "previews" and not hypershot renders from your times you are stating, Have you done a turntable animation yet? It is a great feature but takes a bit to render.

Thanks for the information Scott
I used genetica a lot in the past, and it's new features are just amazing. It can create and edit HDRI's!!!
(http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/gen2tour/edit_hdri.htm#tour1)I've made a couple of turntable renderings, it's a GREAT tool, with very good results. It is a shame that you can't do a flightpath

I think it is just a matter of time before more comes out with hypershot. The fact that it came out without any ability to add lights is the main thing they are working on.

Ooh...aah...
I still play with lego, and while they look too clean to be real, which, I suppose is a compliment in itself, that is a pretty nice attempt. I am still getting to grips with kerkythea though, so I guess it will be a while.
But yeah, pretty renders- and for not very mch tiem, too- I recently downloaded and made a whole set of lego bricks and put them in my component browser- unfortunately, I can't load them up on here, it kills the computer...
Me likes though, they do look very real
