I'm an old SU user & love the product, but I'm new to Layout & when I was trying to start using it today, it repeatedly crashed (actually closed down) whenever I tried inserting a SU model...
Do you have any ideas on what could be going on?
      Thanks!

        no idea,
it maybe the program is just starting to come alive 😄
try this : open a sketchUp file and then, from there, send it to Layout and see what happens.

        ,))),

Also (if you can share the model and it is not too big), upload it here so we can have a look whether the file or your system crashes LO.

            Are you on Windows?

You could try registering the SketchupViewer.dll- LO probably can't find it.
Open a DOS box, and cd to here-
            C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\LayOut
or where your layout.exe is installed.
            Then do-
            regsvr32 SketchUpViewer.dll

This should popup a dialog saying succeeded. If it doesn't say succeeded, then reinstalling is best.
