[REQ] 3D-CPOINT
-
This script would be useful with either follow-me or pipealong to create 3D pipe-like geometry etc.
Essentially, the script would populate 3D space with construction points which could then be linked manually with lines to form a path.
The following is a description of how I imagine the script would work.
The user clicks on an icon (c-point with red/green/blue arrows pointing in X-, Y-, Z-directions).
A dialogue box opens with a request for the co-ordinates of the ORIGIN (first cpoint). User clicks on point in 3D space.
Dialogue box opens with request for X,Y,Z increments. The most useful option would be relative to last point (useful for constructing on-the-fly 3D paths), although absolute (relative to the selected ORIGIN) might also be useful. The dialogue box would also have the following options:
BACK - This steps back one or more construction points back to the first cpoint.
END - This tells the script that the user has finished inputting the data. After all the X,Y,Z co-ordinates have been been entered the user selects END.
A nice feature would be a further dialogue box with the following options:
RADIUS - This would allow the user to enter a radius between line segments to produce a path with rounded corners. RADIUS = 0 gives sharp corners.
LINK - This initiates a sequence that constructs a line-segment path using the construction points and the requested radius.
Is anyone tempted?
Many thanks,
Bob
