        The most sense I've seen written about education either side of the Atlantic in a very long time. UK Governments of either persuasion have bent over backwards to avoid addressing the real problems (if they ever realised what they were in the first place) for the last 30+ years.

        In the '70's they said that the problem was with the bottom 25%...that the bright kids were as good as any in the world. So do they deal with the bottom 25%? No they turn the entire education survice upside down and have continued to do so on a regular basis ever since. They are about to do so yet again, with yet another change in the exam system....as if testing kids every 5 minutes actually teaches them anything...except how to pass exams.
