I Believe (to address the complaints of last week)

Alan,
At first, conceive, please, to these 2 ‘things’:-
“… the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor. 2:14)
-
“… the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.” (1 Cor. 3:19-20)
Those 'enigmas' ar parts of REALITY!

Is God not, then, responsible for our 'craftiness' and 'vanity'? 'He' (his book anyway) discounts any wisdom of anything that does not result in us better knowing him. What would he have us do with the logic and rationality and inquisitiveness and self awarenees and mortality with which he has paradoxically endowed (most of) us? Seems a bit cruel to me.

I’m sorry Ehaflet,
There is no a paradox!Look, please, in the context of those verses to ‘catch’ The Bible’s idea!

Trying not to get involved in this debate as I have work to do, however Cornel I need to ask, what’s the point in quoting from the bible if indeed the whole validity of that book is the debate?
-
Cornel, if you don't understand the God of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism are one and the same...then you have little understanding of your own Bible: thus there is no sense to discussing It with you (and little meaning in your quoting from It).

now is your turn Jimmy,
Cornel has not beaten us yet -

Cool hand Luke. "Some men you just cant reach" What we have here is a failure to communicate"
I will not battle this guy. He is a complete waste of time. for the simple reason that he refuses to acknowledge validity in a alternate point of view. He has closed his mind to logic. In any sane view. if you want to discredit his beliefs ask him how old the Earth is? The answer is only seen as re-f-ing-diculous. What he holds up as some form of proof makes less than z sense to anyone who firmly and correctly for them sees otherwise. Their are many ungodly traits in us humans but the one that applies most to this guy are judgemental, and closed minded. All ugly and to be avoided.
I recall a post from the original SU Forum where their was a topic line along similar line where a member John Sayers posted some thing written by "The night watchmen" Fantastic stuff! John would speak and all cornel could do was post some gobbly gook that John would serve right back to him as a testament to his nievete' (sp.) Sayers sliced and diced this guy. The fact is he is a whack job of the sort that are best found in Waco, Jonestown, or a branch Dividian waiting on some cosmic commit to deliver us from our sins. In short he is a scary sort. If anyone is familiar with a mental disorder called Skizoid (sp.) I think this would be a profile of his type? In short he has no clue that everyone around him is A. A skizoid also or B. Convinced that he is nut. Every one but him that is. He is convinced that he is completely healthy and rational.
Where in the bible does it speak of the concept of. Let it be? (JL 196.8)
My God cares nothing of converts, Dirty Laundry, or consequence.
He is not short on cash.
And we nothing like him. Yet that is. But we should all try to aspire to godlyness in our every day life. It really is all about me.Stay well

Can we quote you, GoD, in reply to cornel?

thanks
but i would not consider the squizoidic path, a wrong way,
in any case
just in case

we can now carry on altogether again(Jimmy, you got a problem with your signature, i´m afraid
.see you, good night. -
Solo,
Re. yours “…what’s the point in quoting from the bible if indeed the whole validity of that book is the debate?”:
That Book is “the debate” for those who didn’t know it."The point in quoting from the Bible" is this:
“… if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:47-48)or that:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)Cornel

How about you, Tom?!! CornelI promote nothing here, so quite contrary to the groups you mention, I am wishing nothing as well: the simple fact is all three of the religions I mentioned worship the same God of the same Abraham. If you are reading from yet another Bible re-written (to suit your kinds current purposes...?) then again I see we have nothing to discuss.

Alan, Maybe we exist as a proxy to circumvent this Catch 22, here is an interesting essay

come on -

Yes, Andy, there ARE NOT!
Read, please , the entire Bible and you WILL BE CONVINCED!
CornelMake you a deal Cornel: I'll read the bible, you read Darwin, Sagan and Dawkins, and we'll reconvene in a couple of months.
Except that would be pointless.
Because whilst I could approach the bible with an open but critical mind, you are clearly not capable of reciprocating. Which is a great pity.

Time out from religion; just Carl Sagan, telling it the way it is.
