Hi, first post here πŸ˜„ . Last days I've been busy making a podracer from Star Wars, which I'm sure you know. The only thing it's based on is the fact that it is a podracer; I looked at some pics, began modelling and got this as a result. The biggest part of the textures I got from cgtextures.com, and editted them with Paint Shop Pro if neccecarily. The model all together got 80870 poly's.

        Puma,

        Welcome to SCF.

I noticed your textures are striping and are not well mapped, this is a SU issue, however if I may direct you to a ruby that may solve this called 'UV tools' http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=10404&hilit=+Plugin&start=0

        Hope it helps.

As a Star Wars fan I must say this is Brilliant! How long did it take(Hours)? Also would you mind if I did a render of it sometime?

Uh.. I don't know, maybe four days or something, with 4 hours a day? That's 16 hours total.. Nah, I think it's more.

Have fun rendering, when you've made some, could you post them in this topic? Thanks!

Further, I'm a big fan of the game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which you guys will probably know. I'm able to modify the game, which means that I can put new buildings, vehicles ingame and more. This podracer is going ingame, I'll post some pics of that too when it's done (probably tomorrow).

yeah, sketchup's lack of UV mapping is definitely hurting this.. i bet it'd look that much cooler and detailed and complex if you just posted up white image with the linework and shadows.. please do! πŸ˜„

I got it ingame (in Gta: San Andreas). Don't ask me how I did it, I could give you a tutorial, but it's quite difficult if you have no experience with it πŸ˜› .

The model has no reflections, lighting or shadows yet. Click for an enlargement:

Puma, this is a really nice pod. I would call it beatle πŸ˜‰

oh, and geh4evr is right. this vehicle is destined for rendering, cause then you can have a glowing energy connection between the engines...
