      All, i'm at a loss.

I currently have two obsessive hobbies; modeling houses and modeling fire apparatus. My current site is crap and I need some ideas on how to showcase my house modeling as well as fire apparatus modeling skills.

      Website in it's current condition.

I have done the layout all by myself and I'm not satisfied with what I have.

I appreicate any help, or any samples of sites for model showcasing.

"it seems like everything I do is a work in progress..."

        Dear CADken,

I have quickly browsed your website and should like to make a few comments.

To the uninitiated your website seems highly specialised. The question that comes to mind is, "why would one want to model a fire tender to such detail, other than for fun?". Perhaps you could add a section which describes the way in which the models are used. If they are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the fire tender in certain situations, then a few case studies would be useful.

You say that your other interest is modelling houses. If this is a commercial interest then your Home Page should include a general introduction to your team's modelling skills, and with separate links to modelling fire tenders and modelling houses.

By the way, it was amusing to see the reference to Oxford, PA, as I am from Oxford UK.

        Kind regards,
        Bob

Thanks for the input, right now I'm taking photos of fire company's apparatus and modeling them for fun... right now it's just to showcase what I can do with SketchUp. The fire company I belong to uses the models to determine whether or not there is going to be issues entering certain facilities in our first due (turning radius, enough overhead clearance, etc.)

As far as houses, I have modeled a few of them but haven't put them on the web (one might be floating around the gallery), these both were done to help people see what they could do to their house and how it may look with those additions.

I just like to model for fun and want my website to be a fancy "portfolio" of my works, but with a focus on th fire service, as well as home modeling.

            Hi CADken,

I suggest that you keep the two types of work separate
            as they don't really mix.

Design a NEW site for the House Modeling and improve
the Fire Engine site and leave it dedicated to this
            work.

I am attaching some comments that might help to get you
on the right track. You have all the information there,
its just a little difficult to read.

            Mike

Thanks you very much for the input! The site suggestions are very helpful and are very much appreciated. I recently "edited" out a lot of text on the "home" page as I thought it was cluttered and I haven't had the time to fix it up (hence all the "dead space").

I will take your suggestions and I will most likely use/follow all of them as they are a fresh look to my site's current condition.

Again, thank you for taking the time to check it out and offer some much needed input!
