Countdown to The Dark Knight...
-
2 1/2 days...
-
I've seen the clips and looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully It'll come to Nairobi in a few years.
I heard something the other day about Heath Ledger's research into the role of Joker and his subsequent playing of the role led to his untimely death (suicide?). Know anything about this?
-
I have to wait for the 25th of July (UK-release)
bought my ticket yesterday. the most expensive cinema ticket (for a single film) in my life. but it is the biggest cinema I have ever seen (in Leicester Square, London).
...and, hey, it is The Dark Knight!, an event I have been waiting for for some years now!may sound cruel, but the fact that it is Heath Ledgers last film (and perhaps the role that made him so upset and affected him so intendly, that he took more sleeping pills than his body could bear) makes it even more important to me.
oh my god, I am soooo excited!
(however, I don't know why Christian Bale forgot to send my invitation for the big premier on 21th of July... He knows how much I am looking forward to that movie...)
-
I am going to see it tonight at midnight! I do not believe that Joker's role had anything to do with Heath Ledgers death. I've read in various places that he was taking those meds before he was cast as the Joker. It just so happened that he took the wrong combination of pills at the wrong time... or that is what I think happened. But, we will never know! I'll let you boys know how good it is tomorrow!
-
yes let us know, how good it is - but nothing more than that!!!
what I heared/read was, that he did use sleeping pills for quite a while. but playing the part of the joker freaked him out a bit and therefore may have been the cause that he misjudged the ammount of pills he should take.
another rumour I heard, is that his sleeping pills reacted with his asthma medication and therefore caused his death.but all I know for certain is, that Heath Ledger is one of my favourite actors and I am looking forward to see him in this role of the joker.
-
Rumors will always be rumors... it's a shame we'll never know! However, I would think that playing that part in Brokeback Mountain would've depressed him more than playing in Batman as the Joker! I read a story at Batman-on-film.com that says he was teased a lot after that film came out when he would go out on the town. He was an incredibly gifted actor and he will be missed!
-
Ok... I saw The Dark Knight at midnight! It is by far the best Batman movie to date! Christian Bale is good as always... The Joker couldn't have been any better, you could definitely tell Heath put a lot of effort into that role! Aaron Eckhart pulled through playing both Harvey Dent and Two-Face. I recommend this film for Batman fans and non-Batman fans! I don't want to give away any spoilers so go see it and we can talk about it later!
-
oh, Bubba, I love you for this (non-spoiling) review!
you increased my already huge anticipation!
and thats where I am sitting, in the big cinema in Leicester Square, London
I have never been in such a huge cinema! uh, only one week of waiting!
-
That is huge! Man I sat there for 5 minutes after the movie was over in amazement... I think everyone was feeling the same! Let me know what you think of it after you see it!
-
just for information: box office in the USA on firt weekend: 155 Million $
(this is a US-record!!!) -
It broke the IMax record as well! Haha, sorry Spiderman!
-
I ahve IMax Tix for Wed night. My daughter saw it on Saturday. She's 24 and she was terrified. This isn't your Adam West type Batman, and Heath Ledger ain't no Ceasar Romero. She thought it was great, but SCARRRRY!!!!
-
Just wait... he does an awesome magic trick with a pencil!
-
what an exciting movie!
the whole film is really dark. batman is walking a difficult path - the title "The Dark Knigt" is a perfect match.
and Heath Ledger is such a frightening and insane villain! definitely one of his best characters ever.

how right you are, bubba - nothing is as important as the first impression
the almost three years of waiting for that movie where definitely worth it.
lets wait another three years...
ps: as a tribute to that great piece of cinema I changed my avatar to something more appropriate

Finally saw the movie the other day.
I'm not particularity a fan of Batman, but this can easily go on the top of my favorite movies list.
Like everyone said, Ledger's performance was unforgettable, and Aaron Eckhart was perfect for his role, as well.and the explosions.
Can't forget the explosions. -
Damm, im getting jealous now.
frantically tries to find cinema phone number
-
I just saw it this afternoon.
-
The wife and I went on Saterday to see it on Imax, gotta say the hype was not for nothing as this really was a fantastic movie. I loved the Hong Kong extraction part.
-
have to see it in the IMAX too. but the one in London is sold out for the next two weeks
that makes me happy on one hand (because we can be a hundret percent sure, that there will be a third one). but on the other hand it means, that I have to watch it elsewhere in the meantime (until I get IMAX tickets). -
I'm glad everyone here liked it! I'm going to see it for a 2nd time in IMax this weekend... can't wait! I'm hoping Chris Nolan and company decide to a 3rd one with the Riddler... what other villains would y'all want to see?
