Andrew Nathanson made an impressive, very well organized and well presented presentation at 3D BaseCamp on Friday (June 13). I was happy to see what he prepared and was kind of "proud" of him being member of our community.

Even more interesting and exciting is that he is a student of our well known "organic artist", Fred Bartels.
Congatulations to both the master and the disciple! πŸ‘

See Andrew's blog about the events here.
(I hope you don't mind me linking it here, Andrew!) πŸ˜‰

          Thanks Gaieus and Mateo,

The congrats really belong to Andrew, who is an exceptional young man. He was absolutely thrilled to attend BaseCamp, and enjoyed getting to meet some of the SCF people. Far from being the master I'm just a lucky teacher who worked with a brilliant exceptionally hard-working student.

Re the subject of "organic master", there are many on this list to whom that term would be more accurately applied... "organic dabbler" would be more appropriate in my case. πŸ˜‰

            Brilliant!

Oh Fred, you really are too modest, dabbler in no way describes what you do, i'd say organic "artist" would be a better word to use.

Just won the 'Who is Least Competitive Championships' where trying to win will make you lose. Trying to lose makes you win which makes you lose. Not trying at all makes you lose which makes you win which makes you lose.

Good point, Pav - I have edited my post to "artist". That is real art, I believe.

And also, despite Andrew is indeed exceptionally talented (and also probably hard working - I have to believe that), I know from experience that a teacher can have great effects on students!

I know what You mean Fred. The greatest pleasure in life is to give to someone
who is exeptional and deserves it . I am really glad that he had that opportunity.
I remember my son , he plays the base and two years ago he was invited for a
Year to play with San Diego Youth Simphony which is one of the oldest in the
USA. He was only 16 then but he will Remember that experience for the rest of
                his life.

                Cheers,
                Mateo

I made it a point to meet Andrew. He's the same age and grade in school as my son. While my son spends his time with Call of Duty,GTA4 and text messaging his friends, Andrew is learning City Planning and Urban Development. Hummmm..... (I love my son, but catch a clue!!)

Andrew was a value add to the conference. I attended his session and he did a great job. Bruce, his dad, was beaming all week. Rightfully so.

Fred, you did good getting him there.

                    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the kind words. Just going to Google is mindblowing enough, but having the honor to present there is even cooler. I am very happy so many of you attended the presentation, and it was absolutly great to meet you all in person.

I hope to be in touch with you in the future, too.

                    Thanks again.

I unfortunately missed Andrew's presentation (we had a very short deadline to save the world in the "hands-on project" lab), but I did have an opportunity to meet him in the food line at Charlie's. I will look forward to a YouTube post of the presentation. And I expect to run into Andrew making more waves at some design/planning event in the future. Best wishes to you, Andrew!

Well done Andrew (and Fred πŸ˜‰ I also attended the presentation
even with a slightly sore head πŸ˜’ I was glad I did as Andrew
was most professional and entertaining. I hope to see more of
                        his work in the future.

Andrew I wish I had a teacher like Fred when I was your age πŸ˜„
