Bridge WIP

Thanks. Still needs lots of work, though. Finishing the model, texturing, adding and positioning trees in the Studio, etc, etc. (BTW: clunky as it is, I like the Studio. Too bad about the "rotated components" bug!)
And then: rendering. Might take some time, as I need it about 11856 x 6900 (final image, @ 300 dpi: about 1 m x 60 cm).
Light trails? No. I'm aiming for a desolate look. No cars, no people. Nor tapirs, yaks etc.
-
looking good stinkie.
-
Cool start Stinkie.
A tad dark, but I guess you are aiming for that look.
I'll keep following this one... -
Thanks, Nomer and Kwist. Yes, I am aiming for a dark look. I'm quite curious to see how this turns out myself.
-
The lighting looks awesome!
Are you gonna put a blurred car racing by or a lost kid looking up at at strange lights in the sky?
Looking forward to see the finished work, keep updates coming.
Thats one friggin huge size you plan to render, if you plan to do it in Maxwell it should take about a year.

No tapirs? Not even a very, very, very etc small one?
EDIT: Forgot to say, but it looks awesome. Lighting, everyting and so on.

Thanks, and no, not even a very, very small one. I mean, I have to draw the line somewhere.

Still, great render. I'd love to see the finished render, and if possible, maybe a photo of the final print?

You mean in situ? Not a bad idea. Don't hold your breath, though. This won't be finished anytime soon.
-
I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for!

Still not finished. Been experimenting with materials. The displaced grass looks awful, but it was interesting to do. Also been "planting" trees in Maxwell Studio (which obviously aren't in this render yet). Tedious process, but I'm slowly getting better at it. The Studio's great, but it crashes a bit too often.
-
Looking good.
I do think the yellow cast of the (morning?) time setting is a bit dominant, although the mood is quite nice. -
Yeah, I know. The final image will be a night time one. This I made to see how the displacement worked out. I know now. Not so good.
It's been an interesting couple of days.
-
this is coming along quite nicely. i can almost feel the chilly morning temperature...
-
I would love to see some shadows in your last image - to get a bit more contrast.
but for your final goal is a night time shot, we will see dramatic lighting anyway.
I am looking forward to your next result.
-
hey, that last one looks great. the grass especialy, best ive ever seen.
my only nit-pick: the railing on top of the bridge has a sort of "flat" look because of the angle, i dont know how you could fix this.every thing else is great, but i like the night scene slightly better. just so that you can use some more dramatic lighting

Nah! Personally, I like the grass in the first image I posted better, though it isn't displaced. De gustibus ...

As do I. The final render will be a night view. The control over lighting Maxwell offers, is the prime reason why I got the app (and the ridiculous amounts of RAM it needs).
