I've been failing miserably at trying to make a hopper that will drop it's contents in a predictable way.

I've tried different size spheres, different size holes, and even put the entire hopper assembly on a motor to spin with no success. About half of the contents make it through and then the rest "bind" up and don't drop.

The only thing I can think of is adding some kind of "mixer" to the hopper to keep things moving inside.

My goal is to have one (or two) spheres at a time to fall out of the bottom until it's empty. Dimensions are not important right now, just a working model would be great. If anyone has any solutions, let me know!!!

either a screen with the grid sized for your spheres, or a gate on an adjustable screw that will adjust a centered slot to allow various sized spheres through, one time wide, and the slit length will be only as long as number of sphere that will go though the chute simultaneously(or max area or slit < area of output chute). this will allow your orface to be any size, as output will be controlled by the gate.

I seem to remember that hoppers often vibrate to get round the sticking problem.

There are several models on 3dwarehouse that funnel balls. I think most have something to "stir" the balls somehow.

I have made a hopper that shakes, the two pistons are set to oscillate, it would also be possible to shake it along another axis but it doesn't seem to need it
