I have been asked to help with in a really interesting project.
The project is to place an old monument from the 1800s which has been in storage for some years and has lost the majority of its parts, back to its former glory and outside for all to enjoy.
This is an image of it in my local City taken in 1890.

The second image shows it in its last public place and with all its remaining parts. As you can see the majority of it has gone!

We plan to have stonemasons create much of the missing sections, although the main column will be shorter.
I have created a quick SU model of the proposed monument (minus the statue)
The scale of this is in relation to its new proposed home.

We have found a really nice spot in a local park for this to be sited and now it is my job to show this in place!
Showing the monument as I have it modelled is no problem really, where it is tricky is showing it with the statue mounted on top!
The only two images I have of the statue are these.

This is where a good organic modelleing program would be useful although even then I think modelling this statue would be too much.
I am thinking I will have to just use the colour image on top of the column although this is not the ideal senario to show from different angles.
Has anyone got any other ideas as to how best show this statue on top of the column?

Before anyone asks, I cannot get anymore pics of the statue. It is in storage and in bits!

      Thanks

Actually Dylan, I'd probably use the top (b+w) photo of the statue, as this seems to have been shot from a lower view-point, so would be better suited to showing the statue on top of the pillar, as viewed from ground-level. Also, it's a lot easier to blend a 3D model into a black and white photo - as you only need to match the tonal range, not the colours.

        Andy.

How about using a Poser model, sure it's high poly but if you are only doing the monument with a statue on it then the size will be fine.

By that Pete, do you mean model the statue in Poser?
I have not used it before, how easy is it to pickup?

Difficult one to answer, Poser is easy for basic model setups and preset posing, however when it comes to the draping clothing things get a little involved. How realistic do you need it?

It does not really need to be realistic. I would aim for the overall scale and shape.
I will go take a look at their website.

I quickly ran the model through Podium Coen.

                    Dylan,

I had a mess around with her (!). She won't win any beauty contests, but as a face me component viewed from below, slightly left she looks ok sat up there, just enough 3d geometry to fool a blind man on a galloping horse. I've zipped the png file with the skp file if you want to use that for anything (the background is alpha transparent).

I'll take this rather heavy attachment down once you've downloaded it.

                      Thanks Jackson.

That should certainly get me going. I will have a go with it this week.
                      Thanks for your time ๐Ÿ‘
