Here are the famous "flying saucer" lamps (real name is Lokki = seagull) designed by Finnish designer Yki Nummi in the fifties.
Models are quite heavy, but you can change the chains to a simple extruded surfaces.
Made them based on some fotos and drawings (adn a real one at home

I love it too - and have one hanging over our dining table. The opacity in your render looks a bit odd - ours is totally opaque with only the light coming through

Looking at the render it seems too that you haven't modelled the way the edge is turned in at the top and bottom-a great way to catch dust and dead flies
