Mike's got his Trike!

Mike- I see from your avatar that you are now on three wheels! How are you enjoying the mean machine?
-
Hey! And he can balance it at a full stop! Good on ya! ...just kidding...it looks cool!
I saw some guy in Boulder riding a Fuocco a few weeks back...jackass wasn't wearing a helmet or any protective gear... Not the advertisement I think they'd want.
Enjoy your new ride!
Cheers,

We all see you proudly riding that little (???) beauty!

What I wanna know is can it do a wheelie?
I hope you are having fun with it Mike and I too look forward to an update.Regards, Ross

Thanks guys. Yes indeed I've been playing with the Fuoco.
This is my first motor scooter and I've a lot of learning
to do. I've always had a hankering for something like this
and gave the Carver http://www.carver.nl serious consideration but
could not justify the cost and the further added cost of
bringing one to Ireland. Along came the 3 wheel Fuoco and
this seemed to be a reasonable compromise. Its actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be but
its ability to 'lock' the front wheels when reaching a full
stop helps at traffic lights. I did make one mistake when
ordering / buying a helmet! The Nolan helmet (flip up) is
a little too heavy for my liking. I think I will keep it as
a spare and get something lighter. All in all I can reccommend such a mode of transport, its
fun and eco friendly.Mike

Hi Mike, I'm glad you're enjoying your new bike! On helmets, I've used Arai helmets in part because they are extremely light. My model is the RX-77, which is the top of the line and very expensive, but their other models are also very good.
The most important thing is the fit, so find a store that will allow you to try on the different sizes. The helmet should actually be a lot more snug that most people realize. There should be no movement whatsoever.
One other note: you will want to go to a large parking lot (with all of your gear) and practice "threshold" braking from various speeds. This it one of the most important skills you can have on a motorcycle. Plus this will teach you exactly how much room you'll need to stop, from various speeds.
Good luck, and ride well!
Cheers,

Thanks Craig, advise from an expert is always welcome.
When I bought the Nolan helmet I was careful about the
size and it fitted well .... snug as you say. Its a nice
helmet which allows a bluetooth device for phone but
a little heavy to town riding. Maybe okay on motor-ways
though. On the 'training track', fortunately a new Furniture
Store has opened just up the road from me with a large
car park. It even has speed ramps! I've been going
there in the evening 7-8pm getting used to things. Its
dark at this time here but it is well lit. Oh! they also
have security cameras and I'm now wondering if they are
thinking that I might be casing the joint when they look
at the videos in the morning
