Local music...

Every region has its own flavour of local music. I thought I'd share with you some youtube links to some of the music of my region. My hope is others will add to the thread by featuring some of the local music of their own regions.
Here in the Maritime provinces of Canada we are big on what we sometimes call East Coast Blues. We have for years been the most economically depressed region of Canada and it seems the Blues really help make us feel better!
Here's a selection of local heroes:
John Campbelljohn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2nHPED5c-sMatt Anderson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xa265U5h350 You should see this guy in concert - he plays the guitar so aggressively that you'd be amazed he isn't shredding his fingers. Most of his concerts are just him and his guitar on stage. He commands the stage. A brilliant musician).
Matt Minglewood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAD7z062ZRU (Matt is the guy wearing red).
Garratt Mason (the guitarist in the video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMSy-bhUNFY
Dutch Mason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI63w1ptfg8 (Dutch died a few years ago. He is the father of father of Garratt. BB King labeled Dutchie the 'Godfather of Blues' out of respect for his guitar playing. In later years Dutchie suffered from severe arthritis and couldn't play anymore. That's when people really started to notice how great his voice was).
Along with the blues we are known for our humor. Here's 'Bubbles' from the tv show Trailer Park Boys. There really are lots of folks like the Trailer Park Boys in our part of the world!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMh-SWmR0MEOur region is also known for its Celtic traditions. We have lots of fiddlers but Ashley MacIsaac is considered the most creative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoApELfgWcg And here's a rare video of Ashley as a child dancing in a Celtic festival: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onpZahfrPnQ Here's another video showing the passion Ashley is known for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKJPm9Qoodw
I really hope you enjoyed these.
Regards, Ross
