The bathroom

Okay, I submit this due to speed in which it rendered, also the simplicity in which i was able to do so with Podium.
This is a poster scene from 'evermotion' it ships with one of their 3d Max Vray packages. I imported the model and dismatled it as it was 156MB, I had to redo all the textures as Podium does not handle .mat or .tif (so I needed to make my own diffuse and bump maps. The point was not to compete with Vray/Max rather to challenge Podium. The render came in at 44 minutes, 7 hours faster than Max, but in Max's fairness mine does not have the specular mapping, which gives Max the realism advantage. So if asked, Max does render a better image at a longer render time, higher price and harder learning curve, Podium is great for fast and not too shabby renderings.
(all setup info is available on request, however due to evermotion copyrights I cannot share model)

Hi Solo,
certainly enjoying your postings.
cheers

Wow ...your entry post in this thread is really a joy to read.
Thanks for posting this and I support the things you say.
Podium is render software that lets you focus on the subject, and not so much on technicalities.
Once again proven the strength of Podium.Nice bathroom rendering.
I like both versions of the image...even though on my Pc the second looks a bit washed out so either me or you should check monitor settingsGreat work again from the Pixar hippie

wich version did you use Solo.?
-
Thanks for your kind comments guys...
Alexander, I used the new beta version available to all registered users 1.5b, found here: http://www.suplugins.com/
-
Solo,
Do you get paid by Podium to do things like this (and of course, share and spread them)???
If not, why?
-
I ment did you use version 1.5 b2
because i read something about 44 min.
the new version is fast... -
I think Gai he is real good with podium and likes to see other people how easy to use podium is..
also a podium user (not getting paid) just wanna say it's a good program.
-
I know, Alexander - I usually have the latest eval verion (just to try).
I am not that great rendering person (though I am really interested) but I mostly am excited about the modelling part.
However I'm very amazed, entertained, amused and even shocked what can be done...
My above response was simply meant as a kind of compliment. I1m just too lame to praise things directly...
-
well Gai,
I did used the new beta tonight on something i renderd last week
last week it took 1 h 10 min and 39 sec.
tonight 32 sec. same spec's and same computer.
so a really good improvement.I'm also shocked sometimes, what people can do, unfortunaly i can't spend that much time to get everything well done
Edit: before getting to much questions or whatever i ment to get all the possibilities out the program.
-
Will you share?
-
LOL at y'all
I am using the new released verion, yes it's 1.5 b2 (aka betacarotene)
I do not get paid, however I am lucky enough to be a beta tester and get to fiddle with all the new features TBD comes up with. What I enjoy mostly is solving render issues within the podium forum, I believe helping solve problems has made my abilities to use the product even better.I see the new Kerkythea has been released and I am planning to learn that too in the coming days.

Oh, no, please! Give us a break!

Now wait a minute - the attachments were not there before, were they? (Don't make me think I'm going nuts, please because at the moment I'd even believe!)
BTW - great stuff, I like it (but actually we're hijacking solo's thread... )
-
Your right, i did a edit to show the difference.
So i don't wanna hyack this thread, so let's discuse the bathroom.
