Paul Russam΄s Church and Indigo
-
Excellent quality images, whats the building in fron of church? looks like the SS headquaters.
-
Its a nursing home, but its shape has been commented on before, believe me
-
Hope you don't mind I ran your church through Podium, using noisy settings for 30 passes (about 9 minutes)
threw in a sky and logo in PSP.
I opted not to render an exact model, rather to change up the textures for another look (this way it doesn't seem like a challenge rather a rendering of a fantasticly modelled church)
For a bigger picture with lots of finer detail.
-
Wow, that looks good, its got a winter feel to it
-
They look good to me too. The viewpoint make them look a bit spooky-traditionally this kind of architecture is presented in a 2-point perspective.

Solo,
Nice renders! I wish I had your artistic eye...great background image!
Here are two more done with Indigo. -
Whaat, those are awesome, the first one looks like a photo. My rig ain't strong enough to smoothly navigate the interior, you did another fine job of that too. I especially like the lighting.
can Indigo do bloom? as having sunlight filter through the stained glass with a bloom effect would be amazing. -

Thanks! To me, the second one looks more like a photo. I was trying to get a flashbulb type effect. I am going to try to tweak the stained glass material to get more contrast and less light bleeding (like the photo Paul provided.)

Yes, Indigo can do bloom. However, it is not efficient for Indigo to calculate bloom during a render. That's why there is no option to turn on bloom in the SkIndigo interface. It is better to add it in post-pro using 'Violet' (stand alone Indigo tonemapper application available on the Indigo website).

another one of the entrance...
-
That last image looks awesome Whaat.
I am experimenting a little with Paul's model myself.
A 'bombastique' rendering in Podium (not as photoreal though): -
Fantastic Images guys.
One of my collogues pointed something out whilst looking at the last 2 images and I couldn't resist.......
.
Edit:
Removed an image that could have/was misconstrued, I was trying to make a funny regarding the difference between the 2 rendering styles in the images above but seemed to have missed the mark a little. -
comment removed
-
I don't follow any religion, the above visual comment was based on a rather exaggerated stereotypical image of the 2 religions.
-
I am not going into a religion thing... (but I would be careful not to arouse people though as it's a delicate subject to some)
Just rendering along. This time using Fry and with a slightly different stone texture:I hope to try out Indigo for this scene (I like Whaats renderings a lot) as soon as I get the web based GUI to work.
-
Very nice, the new stone is a vast improvement on the existing material.
Note:
I've edited my previous post and removed the image. -
Actually Paul, I liked the animated gif a lot. (going to hell....going to heaven). I would just have taken the literal religion names out.
Any chance to see an adapted version posted again? -
Fantastic renders...all of them.
Paul I really do not care one way or the other. But you know Northern Irland better than me...Less things sparkled all out war there in the past.

Just thought I'd mention that biebel is referring to the VERY new beta of SkIndigo which still has some kinks to work out. The current official release is version 0.9.1 which (from all known accounts) is working perfectly.

Rendering the interior is a tough nut to crack as the computers RAM is taken to its limits when pushing render.
Rendered with Podium 1.5: Render time about 35 minutes -
a Vray version:(some Jpeg artifacts in the upper right corner of the image)
