Just got the project complete photos of my second SU model ever...from a year and a half ago. I was pleased, impressed, and a little surprised :`) Thought I'd share:

awesome... looks like the stuck close...

it's soo nice to see models turned into buildings,
        instead of modeling existing buildings...

I agree with Kris, and may I add that it wouldnt be a bad idea to make a section in the gallery or somewhere where finished works
would be exibited that were initially modelled
          in SU.
Tom, You really have gone a long way since this as You say Your second image. Keep it up.

Mainly, I was surprised that I was surprised there were no surprises.

After 30-some years of visualizing three dimensions from 2d drawings (I'd bet I haven't done half a dozen point perspectives total...all of those a long, long time ago), and experiencing the wonderous (and disappointing) surprises the build project hands out, I guess I was deep down still expecting the same to happen...even though I knew the 3d geometry was real and correct.

Seems we'll have to find a different cop-out from: "It'll look better in three dimensions." (With the walkabout feature can't even use "It'll look better in four dimensions." :`)

Didn't think I could get more impressed with this software!

              Best, Tom.

Warms my heart Tom! Knowing that people are doing what the WANT to do in life, and that SketchUp helps that become a reality (in more ways than one) really makes us proud and happy!

                Thanks for sharing!!

                Cheers,

Tom it's great to (see) your hard work become a reality. and as you mention there are always surprises.

Cool, Phil...the wood grain and countertop texture is dead-on! Hope we get some more model/real postings here...thanks for sharing, Tom.

Side note: the other surprise on mine was the coolness of the built brick used...I spent hours (beyond the billing!) trying to get the brick texture just the right shade of "warmer!" orange for my client :~b
