Really cool idea. and generally speaking, the plants give a nice extra to the images (although the treeline seems to be a bit flat and too roughly cutout)
-
A try at 8 spheres. The one to the far left, was my first test tree.
the leafs are to large and to sparce.
-
Nice hedges can also be created this way...
-
Yes hedges and grass, but havent tried grass.
Working here on a deserted island, hopeing not, to see what's his name
walking through here, in his birthday suit.

hi all /david .
i tried KT Brush over a bush i separately inserted and merged whit a leaf, and here is the draft render result , maybe it is good for mid-distance foliages . u may improve this idea using flowers ... bushes , trees ...or people ..

Tried Clipmaping of leafs, but couldn't get the right results.

Tree Trunk, Branches, and 10 Leafs were made with a Blender script called Gen3.
Made Components with Trunk, Branches, and only 10 Octagon Leafs in SU.
The same Ten Leafs were used for the Hedges, but smaller.

Two more.

Here,s another render.

Model in the background was not made by me.
Model can be found at
http://archidom.net/ddd/model_S.htm

Needs Pillars or Columns under the radius.
-
Trying to figure this one out, before a render. Need to remove the door ways
on the first floor, they look like men and women restrooms.

Here's a Progressive Path Tracing. I could'nt get rid of the arched door ways. I didnt
have the guts.
-
Never mind. Toilets/bathrooms are always needed.
But how come that tree is growing from the pavement?Nice render BTW

Here's a test render with lots of mistakes.
