AMD 780
-
I have always been a fan of AMD, but my last two rigs have been Intel based due to Intel having better chipsets available at time of need. Well thats ended! I am considering building a new rig and it's gonna be another AMD monster as the new 780 has been launched and it's gonna kick ass seriously.
Check out this you tube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcbGV6Pfb6Q
Due to the fact that AMD and ATI are now the same company they can take things to the next level.
Exciting times! (I sound like a geek now)

I tihnk im gonna wait for some real world benchmarks before i start forking over any cash. This sounds suspiciously like marketing spiel.

My thoughts as well.
The clip is kind of not giving any real speed info away.
The comparison split screen AMD vs Intel is a bit cheap.Intel is about to release octocore capability , so called 'Skulltrail'technology, for consumers. I would love to see that compared to the new AMD 780 systems.
Indeed, we need to wait for benchmarks before we move.

AMD is more than a bit behind. IIRC one of the blokes I know from another technology forum has a machine with the 780 chipset, he isn't very impressed.
++++EDIT++++
I just checked, he has the "DFI 790FX-M2R" motherboard. So it does not seem to be the same chipset as the above.

If you want to see something seriously kick butt, you'll have to wait until Intel brings out the CPU's with the integrated memory controllers (like AMD CPU's already have). I read somewhere that the architecture AMD adopted is kinda hurting them at the moment (well, for the past few CPU generations), but then again Intel has the R&D funds that AMD could only dream of.

solo, I found this link on the web. Compares the "Intel Core 2 duo e7300" with the " AMD Phenom x3 8600". They also threw other CPU's (admittedly, all Intel CPU's) into the mix for a better comparison.
