Certainly the basis of any good render is a good model. You cannot substitute everything with bumpmaps and such.

definitely... you cannot have 'photoreal' without the detail.. no matter how skilled you are or how great your rendering software is...if you dont have a detailed model... you've got nothing! (well..maybe not nothing

What a Fantastic Sketchup model. This model truly demonstrates the programs true potential in my opinion. Great work. Looks like an interesting project too!

Thanks for all these lovely comments, this is what keeps me going. Don't take this result for granted though, it still is very hard work but I love Sketchup
