I love the first one, mostly because of the subtle lighting and soft shadows on that back wall.

I dont really like the lack of detail in the second one, feels (to me) like there should be somethig else there

if you know TADO ANDO architect ( that i've rendered his house) , he is famous for lack of detail . i find the house over the net , add ferniture and rendered using KT . all bump maps are using KT . here you can find more information and .... : http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=76
