Any PC and/or XP experts out there able to work this one out?

When I try to open a png file in Photoshop CS3 I get an error message "Prop Res DLL not loaded" with an OK button and a close window "X" in the top left. Clicking the "OK" button or the close window "X" doesn't seem to do anything, the error message flashes for a second, but immediately reappears. I've Googled it, but haven't come up with anything useful.

Now THIS is the weird thing- I said clicking "OK" or "close" doesn't seem to do anything, but it actually does... eventually. If I click either of them repeatedly, after exactly 55 clicks the png file opens normally! It works every time on the 55th click.

This actually started happening with PS CS2 a few weeks ago, but I just installed PS CS3 (after fully uninstalling PS CS2) and it's still happening. I run Registry Mechanic and Norton AV regularly (at least once a week) so my PC should be fairly healthy.

I'd be very grateful for any help with this puzzle.

Hi Jackson, I'm not getting the same problem...

How do you open the PNG in CS3?

EDIT: I've asked a friend on the CS3 team if he's heard of this. I'll let you know what I find out.

It has to do with the fact that you didn't fully uninstall CS2 there were some things left, you will have to enter your registers to fix that. Don't know exactly how though google will help you with that. But a friend of mine had the same problem with MSWord

          Thanks guys,

Craig- it happens if I either open it straight from the png file via the right-click menu or open PS first, then open.

I just thought, asking you brings a whole new meaning to "I Googled it"! ๐Ÿ˜†

I was afraid of that. ๐Ÿ˜• Thanks for the advice- I'll try uninstalling PS CS3, deleting all PS files manually, running registry mechanic and reinstalling. Fingers crossed.

          Thanks again

Answering my own question here, but seeing as the Interweb drew a blank for me on the ""Prop Res DLL not loaded" problem I thought I'd post my solution here for others.

I completely uninstalled Photoshop CS3 and deleted the registry key, then ran the registry cleaner tool in CCleaner

Then I ran Windows Install Clean Up

Then I reinstalled Photoshop CS3 and it now seems to be working perfectly.
