Need Aussie Translation...

then that makes this hilarious...
-
In that case a 'footy' is a football, he said he could pass a football to the choppers they came that close.
We have 4 football codes.
- AFL Australian football league, referred to as AFL.
- NRL National Ruby League, referred to as League.
- Rugby Union, referred to as Union
- Soccer, referred to as football.
we differ from US football by the fact that we wear no helmets or padding.

Aussies are real blokes!
-
yeah check that guy with the tooth embedded in his head...
I don't have the link...
but then put your rugby guys up against our Steroid Monsters in the NFL... we wear pads cuz people die when we don't...
-
Your steroid monsters are no different to ours. Rugby and Rugby league players are big tough blokes.
-
I would say they are... from what I've seen most of our linemen have a good 100 lbs on your guys...
perhaps we should have a game between the two?

no thanks - you don't know any real games
-
we don't? mmmm or I don't?
-
The US doesn't. We play cricket, rugby, league with other countries worldwide but the US doesn't play or compete in any of these games.
No one else plays gridiron and whilst we play some baseball it's a minor sport.
-
actually we play all of those as well... people just don't flock to them as in your countries...
Cricket here is mostly a college sport, Rugby is a amateur sport here, my step dad plays it.
-
An interesting comparison.

seeing how our Tight End's are around 250lbs and are some of the lightest men on the field of the NFL... most men in the NFL are 300+
I would say they should play a match.
why has this never been done?
we should have an NFL team play the Rugby guys in a game of Rugby over there, and then have the Rugby guys come over here and play a game of Football.
we'd make a fortune
oh and btw here is a quiote from "Yahoo Answers" which unlike your story could just be total made up crap, seing how they don't have to back up their answers...
and I would think there are tons of Biased americans on this link too, so I don't put too much faith in it.

Your points are sound ones of course.
from an American football perspective...
"If you like to play football, you will LOVE rugby. If you love football, rugby will become your obsession."I was obsessed with rugby...it was easy for me to excell as a former American football player.
Now I coach semi-pro football.
We recruit from the local union and rugby clubs...not a single rugby player stays the entire year.
They quit or get hurt.
Most of the time they quit after getting their bell rung for the first time...they aren't used to that...it hurts, it's humiliating, and it leaves you very dazed for the rest of the game. It's only an argument for those that have never played both for a long time.
We currently have one rugby / hockey player returning next year.
James will tell you that what he's learned from football he brings to the game of rugby ... what he's learned from rugby - theres no use for in football..http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061009192149AAVXZ3t

well I just had a discussion with my mother about this argument... and she of course tended my Step dad's injuries and watched the games of Rugby, while I was a very young child I only noticed the game... not the results...
she says that it is much tougher on the Men in Rugby, she said that they were all injured after the game and could barely walk for 2 days afterwards, and most had an injury of some kind...
she also watch me play FootBall for years through Mighty Mights to College and she says I was only injured once or twice and from what she could tell, it was much safer and she felt much better about me playing Football instead of Rugby...
btw my step dad David is a tough guy... Para-Rescue in the Air Force, an he thought football was for wussies...

OK, this is how Football is played in Australia.....
