having fun playing with sketchy styles. first shot trying out the Style Builder

      base style from Form Fonts

this started as a sample and I liked it so I spent some more time on it. πŸ˜„

I've seen some stunning b&w images from some of you folks. Any hot tips, comments, constructive criticism?

I like this style a lot actually, I would ask if you would share it but do not sure it's possible due to the FF base.

        great job.

I also like this style, which is unusual, as i dont really like styles in general.

If the style is very heavily modified, to the extent where it doesnt really resemble the original, your probably safe to share it (if you want to!), otherwise id leave it.

I think FormFonts has an exchange which is free as long as you donate to it. SO you could upload it to the FF exchange and others could download it. But still I'd check with the user ageement from form fonts regarding distribution of something that started out as a download from them.

In general when a 'new' style is derived from a FormFont one it should not be shared. I suppose if you were sharing it with another FormFont subscriber. The Exchange at the FormFont's is one way to share with other FormFont subscriber. Currently there are a couple of styles in the Exchange that are derived from ones I created for the main FormFont collection. I'll admit it doesn't make me feel good to see them in the Exchange posted under someone else's name with no credit given to me. That said, my understanding is that technically they are doing nothing wrong uploading to the Exchange - so long as they are only sharing with other FormFont subscribers.

When I make a styles for the FormFonts collection I create my own line set and all my own watermarks. The watermark (background/overlay) that appears in Nick's image above was, for instance, created by me from scratch. I don't derive them from other images found on the web. I do that so the users of a FormFont style can do so without violating someone else's copyright. Because I create them from scratch I know other's can too. So my hope is that if you want to share styles do so with your own totally original works. To do otherwise can be infringing on someone else's intellectual property rights.

              Regards, Ross

Ross, you do fantastic work that makes it easy for me to produce something like this very quickly. I don't mean to take credit for creating this look, I just tweaked it a little.

For future reference, is a reference to FF technically and/or customarily sufficient when posting as such or should I look back and reference the person who created it for use at FF?

Thanks again for your excellent work πŸ˜„ you've created many of my favorite styles.

                peace,
                Nick

                  Hi Nick
Please don't feel compelled to credit me or FormFonts when posting work created with a FormFont style. It really isn't necessary or expected. I likely will recognize the use of one of my styles and that alone is really satisfying. I very much want FF subscribers to use the styles and don't want them to resist due to feelings they need to give credit when they really aren't required to. My prior post related only to concerns about sharing styles.

                  Thanks, Ross
