...on 7/7/07 we got our 777th member. Nine days later we have a hundred and fifty more...wow! Congratulations Coen, and thanks again! Best, Tom...and welcome esteromx!
-
lol!, and the Google group that all those people came from gets about 1 or 2 posts a day now, maybe less...

the old sketchup boards are definately dead. I've been a member for quite a while and its nice to see familiar faces on this board.
I recently got married and moved to a new city and started a new job and while everything else is brand new its good to see some old famaliar faces
-
What I like about this forum is not only the
old familiar faces great communication but also the layout and easy way of searching going through the pages, lots of pictures avatars. To tell You the truth I wouldnt change this forum for the old SU-forums.
What I cant percieve is the fact that Google
that has so much recources at its disposal cannot make better forums than the ones they have done, Or is it just me.Maybe I am not seeing a bigger picture. -
I think the ex-@Lasters are hamstrung by the just plain awfulness of the GoogleGroups GUI which, for various reasons, they now feel they have to use.
I can only imagine that the reason that the Google GUI is so inflexible is simply down to sheer complacency on the part of Mountain View.
At least the Beta testers still have their forum at the old location....probably because GoogleGroups is so primitive that no one has yet figured a way to actually hide a forum from public view....even the Pro group says that it is open and visible to all.
I have to say that although I finally managed to get into the Pro group, I haven't yet posted there and very rarely visit. The situation isn't helped by the fact that although I can open skp files perfectly ok both here and on the old beta forum, all I get at the Groups is a page full of code. Yes, I know I can probably r-click and save the link to my desktop...but that's quite cluttered enough already.
It looks like we are going to hit the 1000 mark here in the next few days.

What's amazing to me are two things. First, the lack of communications from Google on this whole thing, not letting us know when outtages are going to occur, when features will be implemented, etc. And then yesterday (haven't checked yet today), but most of the SU related GGroups were unavailable, and several times I got a window that said the server wasn't available. Hello!!
Perhaps we can chalk this up to big company bureaucracy and/or complacency as Alan suggests.
Either way, I don't get it.

As for getting the 1000th member, any ideas on how to celebrate?
-
How'bout a t-shirt fundraiser? Coen?
-
We will get more and more....the same way the issues on Groups grow.
I get the simplest error messages when I try to read, to post and nowaday they tell me the new posts were deleted when I will read. (The post was today 18.05 pm) -
Well, this is the 4th in a long list of no-access messages gotten through GG.
#1: It thought I was a hacker, so I had to manually enter an alphanum code from an image each time I used my bookmark to go to the forum.
#2: Group archive unavailable. Try again later.
#3: Server not available.
And now, drum roll please..
#4: click on a post to from the Discussion list in order to reply to it, and I get this message:

I have not even been over there and I think I am better off for it.

cafepress.com allow you to sell tshirts and other stuff with you logo.

At the rate that it's growing currently, we probably have about a week before the 1000th member joins. To bad I will be away from any web connection (at camp) for the next week, I'll probably miss it.
-
Ok, I may have been incorrect, it now seems to have less than 3 days to go. So if we are going to do something we had better do it fast. How about changing the look of the forums for a day or so?
-
PM box only holds 200 messages... ;(
-
24 to go

I love the Idea, let's do it, there probably wont be all 999 other users able to participate (I wont unless it's within the next 16 or so hours) so the 200 limit might actually make it seem more impressive to the lucky person receiving them all.
-
Visiting for the second time and having the top of the page read "200 new messages" would scare the hell out of me...let's do it!
-
We're at 991...better watch closely now :`)
