    I just thought I'd share this experiment I did. Hopefully Jeff Jacobs doesn't mind me using one of this superb renderings for this test. Thanks!

    Here's what I did:

    1. Imported Jeff's render as a new photomatch
    2. Modeled the main structure and some of the furniture using the render as a background to trace over
    3. Added a new chair and plant from the 3D Warehouse
    4. Created a background plane and projected Jeff's render onto it.
    5. Used SkIndigo to explode the projected texture so it would render properly.
    6. Applied some new materials to the scene
    7. Rendered with Indigo
    8. No post-pro except for some color balancing

    I spent very little time on material and lighting setup (and modeling for that matter...) The purpose of this experiment was just to show what is possible. I am not trying to compare rendering ability or software. This experiment was used mainly as a test of using a Photomatch->Indigo workflow.

        Rendered about 2 hours on one thread. P4 3.2GHz.
        Original size was 1000x1026.

          Whaat you are really an amazing coder.
          You are making Skindigo the first SU render plugin that actually uses the SU photomatch option.
          Not even the commercial packages have this.
          This feature together with 'instancing' and 'multi uv material sets' is simply innovating in a SU2renderapplication.

          Way to go.....

          Certainly that last company (Asgvis-vray) could benefit from your knowledge to make a more 'logical' piece of software.

          Unfortunately I don't use Indigo as for some reason I don't feel confortable with the Indigo render screen GUI and the tonemap Violet app. I think it is the time gap between hitting 'render' and the actual start of the render process. Also Violet takes a little too much time to update it's screen. I would prefer some tonemap options before hitting render ('pre', 'post', exposure,gamma,reinhard,linear) and control of those parameters within the Indigo 'render screen' itself. Let's hope Onosendai finds the time to improve this workflow thing.
          For me personally, I want to be able to do quick 'test renders' that can be killed after some minutes to improve the scene and launch more tests in a quick manner...

          But I must say that the Skindigo export plugin however is really becoming state of the art. Cool
          It is clear that you are developing this from a 'users' perspective.....as all developers should.

            Your words are always appreciated biebel. Probably 75% of the features that have been put into SkIndigo are a result of your input. I basically consider you a co-developer of the plug-in!
            In case you didn't know, I have released another test version of SkIndigo (0.9test4). It addresses some of the workflow concerns you have mentioned to me in the past. One nice feature is that 'Quick Export' is quite a bit easier to use. Also, the latest test release of Indigo is a LOT faster in the start-up process then previous versions. OnoSendai is also doing a lot of speed optimization lately. Every test release gets faster. I think the coming stable release of Indigo 0.9 combined with the offical release of SkIndigo 0.9 will be an awesome combination.
            With regards to your tonemapping comments, I am planning on waiting until OnoSendai adds controls for shutter speed and film ISO. Then, you will see these controls in the SkIndigo interface. Right now, Ono is working on photo calibration tests so he gets the controls right.
            Here is the link to the latest SkIndigo test release. It seems to fairly bug free so far. Remember to use it with Indigo 0.9test4

                I don't mind Whaat. Fire away! I just had two margaritas and a chilles rellenos at Panchos in Vancouver, it's BC Day weekend, and our hotel overlooks the English Bay and the fireworks that begin in 3 hours!

                Two hours and one thread. Not bad Whaat. Keep em coming. I've always liked the look of Indigo renders, but I'm on a mac and haven't even loaded up a Bootcamp Widoze yet or I'd give it a whirl.

                Try to get the aluminum mullions more "aluminumy" and the floor needs a bit of a sheen. The radiosity must of been up high becuase you have a lot of bounce color in the ceiling.

                I would like to see more.
