There was a huge tunnel that was found from BC to Washington, where tonnes of pot was smuggled into the US, that might have something to do with it! lol

I think one of the main problems that I see with it being illegal, is that dealers and growers are ruining new houses by buying them, growing a lot of pot, and infecting the house with a boatload of toxic mold from the humidity.

here in the USA it's not economic, unless you see the reason "economic" being a reason to spend billions on Cops...

if they taxed it, they would make billions instead...

yet another reason I wonder why I'm republican.

strange thing I see is that America's DEA is got it's nose in all your other country's business. I mean WTH is the DEA doing in Canada?

      legalize...

You would think that here in Madison, it would be everywhere. Not the case. I haven't been around, or been where it was around, in many a year.
Here's an aside. We where paddling (2 days ago with another very straight looking couple)on upper Mirror Lake, and we came upon 2 kids passing a joint back and forth in their canoe. As we passed them, I said they need to paddle over to the shore, "we are the Lake Delton undercover narcotics squad." The look on these 2 kids faces was priceless.
Pot still makes you a hell of a lot more paranoid than alcohol ever will.

I agree that it's the same as alcohol or tobacco (or even less severe), IMHO the reasons it is illegal pretty much everywhere are political and economic. I see no physical side effects that are any worse than those from alcohol or tobacco and had never had anything but FUN with it. I've also had friends that have used it with great results to help them through chemotherapy. Ever seen a guy on chemo devour a 18" hoagie? I have.

            Smoke up, Johnny.

Humm, maybe it's the proximity to BC, but I know probably more people here who do smoke, on occasion or regularly, than those that don't at all...

or maybe all of Canada is getting stoned from the huge waft of smoke coming from BC 😆

It shows what a sheltered life I lead in my part of Canada: I don't know anyone who I would bet has used pot in the last year. That reflects a few things -- I don't know many people and that use isn't necessarily as prevalent as that report might make it sound. No doubt there are people I know who might well be users but they certainly aren't smoking in public or stoners. Maybe the researchers asked a bunch of people in bars about their use. I doubt they got an accurate cross section of all Canadian society. When I was in the Netherlands I saw people smoking pot out in the streets --- I've never seen that in Canada.

                Regards, Ross

Hey guys, another Canadian thread coming down the pipe...figuratively and literally.

Canada is apparently the number 4 user of marijuana in the world, and the number 1 in the developed world. With 16.8% of the population having tried it in the last year. I was really surprised that we even ousted the Netherlands, where I've heard small amounts are legal.

What are you're guys' thoughts on pot use? I personally see no problem with it, when taken in moderation, the same as alcohol or tobacco.

                  Let me know!
