About Mayan´s creed

I´ve been reading in the Mayan creed, belief, that the CREATION started on :
August 11,12 or 13 of 3.114 BC
And then I´ve searched for which,why,which is that reason.
And I´ve found this one :
This beginning date was reached by finding a point in future time (December 21 2012) and counting backwards, as theories go,..Does anybody knows about this theory ? or any other theory about it ?

I've read about quite a few different theories, from what I understand we're living the fifth civilisation. Supposedly also the last (or second last, not sure) civilisation according to the Mayans (I think).
I frequent a website called Return of the Nephilim. You'll probably find a lot of other stuff there as well, propaganda in some cases. Sift through the information and make up your own mind.
Anyhows, I've also read of occasions where impossible artefacts were found by archaeologists pointing to (modern) human existence millions of years ago.
