                Nice design, nice look. Have you built one yet? If so, how do you keep the metal foot rest from rotating downward? Seems like you would need some way to secure the pivot point.

                  Thank you all. No, Eric, I haven't built one yet. I have the same concern about the foot rests. I was thinking of drilling extra holes through the straps and the legs and using an annealed steel rod as a rivet. If it was ground and filed off flush, it wouldn't be visible. The bolts and nuts called out for the project are square. I kind of like the idea of those.

                    If the steel were strong enough to resist warping/twisting (from a foot exerting a force on it) the curve would prevent it from rotating downward.

                    Nice model and rendering.

                      Yes, I don't think there'd be no problem with the footrest. The bolt alignment would be similar to putting hinges on adjacent sides of a square box and expecting the lid to open.
