Imported component re-defined as "dynamic" component
-
I have a model/component which started life as a 'dynamic' component: one of the Milgard brand windows available from the 3D Warehouse. I have exploded and exploded the model until there are 0 components left - just faces, edges, groups. Then I translated edges/faces to make the window a different size (30"x36"). I save the window model to disk. But then when I import this window model into my larger house model (File -> Import...) the window reverts back to a dynamic component and actually re-scales itself back to the original Milgard dimensions (36"x36"). Just want to understand what is happening behind the scenes here. I don't understand how/why my window model would be reverting back to its original 'dynamic' state and re-sizing itself upon import. window skp file in question attached. and a snapshot of the 'Model Info' window. Sketchup Pro 2021. Thank you very much for the insights.

A component file is created is created via the right click menu "saveas"
If you open this file you see its contents not the parent, so saving leaves a parent with the groups as per your file,
You need to import the file as done and explode then via right click "saveas" to overwrite or drag and drop. then the parent data is destroyed

thank you very much pcmoor. I suspected there must be 'parent data' buried in the file somewhere - I just couldn't figure out where it lives or how to access and then delete it.
And I was not aware of the 'best practices' of saving a component to disk via the select - right-click - Save As operations. I have always just saved a model to disk with the File -> Save As... option - without first making the model a component - and then relied on the File -> Import... into my larger model to turn that model into a component. I shall make better use of the component -> Save As... operation.
