Folding Dock Steps
-
I was asked to work out a design for some folding dock steps based on a very nice one shown in a video. This is the basics set out to make sure that everything fits. Still need to add raised paenls and profile rails and stiles as well as add joinery, hardware, and some other details but that's all pretty trivial at this stage.

Nifty Dave. Really like the sketchy style

Is this supposed to be mobile? How much will it weigh?

Cool. Nice presentation. Maybe I can use one to pull my canoe off the rack.

Thank you gentlemen.
Robert, it is intended to be sort of portable. It's the sort of thing a boat owner would have to put on the dock to make it easier to step aboard. They need to be heavy enough to stay put when in use so they aren't that light. The sketch I made is based on some that are made of teak.
FWIW, I'll probably flesh this out and create plans for it in LayOut.

I thought it was an archaic version of this:

No. they are a nicer version of steps like these.

fwiw, teak is pretty light, so it might not be too burdensome. Oh, and how about an animation so we can see how they fold?
