Hinge problem - collision detection
-
I have not used MSPhysics but in watching some example videos on this forum I thought there was a collision detection setting.

ntxdave: if there is a collision detection setting then that sounds like it might do the trick. Anyone know if such a thing exists and where it could be found?
ecati: thanks for trying the MSPhysics route. I've tried the same, but with the blocking bit of wood static as well as the base. The lever arm hits it, goes into it, bounces back, but then remains partially embedded - not the way wood acts! See my version and the screenshot showing the embedded bit.
Thanks for the views and suggestions, folks. If anyone has any other bright ideas I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Suggest you add "collision dictation" to your thread topic so those more familiar to the plugin migh respond. In doing some quick research I think there is some way to accomplish you need but I do not have experience with the plugin. Hope some can give you help.

Choose this and try again.

Might also help if you could described what you are going to do with this.

I'm following this lead, though using "detection" rather than "dictation"! Thanks for your help.

I'm building a folding bench/picnic table and am trying to test out the folding mechanism to ensure nothing interferes with anything else as it folds. Still plenty to work on to get this hinge thing working. The basic drawing I'm developing is attached.

That worked perfectly - thank you!
Glad someone familiar with the plugin could help you. I looked at your model and it would be interesting to see the animated version when you are done.

Here's an animated version, but not SketchUp! At least it shows what I was trying to achieve. https://youtu.be/-l2qe277JJE
