Christmas Music

Thought I'd put this here.
Why is it that traditional Christmas music is some of the best church music there is and you get to hear Bach and Handel all. Even the more questionable songs (We Three Kings) are at least fun to sing, and some songs are like lullabies or have an air of wonder to them...
Then most modern Christmas tunes are the worst songs that you wouldn't give the least time to the rest of the year, done in the poorest fashion (but it must be done)? Especially Christmas rock tunes. Whose idea was that?

I guess the classical music are Christmas Carols and the modern stuff are Christmas songs. I blame Bing Crosby.....

For really fine contemporary Christmas music see John Rutter.

As Christmas approaches, I set aside my favorite classical music to play in lieu of the radio offerings. I pack about 6 hours of mp3 recordings on each CD.
