An Old Fern Stand
-
Last week we were at my wife's family's cottage in northern Minnesota. While looking for something else there, I came across a plant stand that was made by my wife's grandfather in his Manual Training class when he was 15 or 16 years old. He was born in 1905. I sat down and made some measured sketches which I translated into this SketchUp model. And I forgot what I'd been looking for when I found this stand.

The caning doesn't match his. I expect I'll have to model it myself since I haven't found a suitable image.

Great model with an even greater back story. Darn shame kids aren't taught skills like this anymore in schools.....

Thank you. And I agree wholeheartedly.

Tuna's right. About the model and about shop classes.
