Adirondack Chairs

I was modeling an Adirondack chair for someone this evening and it occurred to me that I've done quite a few of them over the years. Here's nine Adirondack seats that I could find. There's likely more of them somewhere.

That's cool. They all look great. Having just spent almost two weeks at a lake cabin, I vote for the ones with flat arm rests or, rather, cocktail holders.

All of them were built before I modeled them and many of them have surely been built since I modeled them. I made plans for at least the first two in the front row and I know people have built chairs from those plans.

Thanks. I think my favorite is probably the one in the front left. Although it's not as simple as most of them, it looks like it would be more comfortable and it looks like I could get out of it without a Hoyer lift. That chair was done by Tom McLaughlin on Rough Cut with Fine Woodworking. I did the model for the construction plans.

I find it tough to choose between them! The one you chose looks really nice — and much easier to exit from — but I also love the lines of the more classic Adirondack style (which evokes a certain nostalgia from my younger Muskoka days).

I agree with you and I have sat in some comfortable classic Adirondack chairs in my time. My favorite place to sit in them was at the Naniboujou Lodge overlooking Lake Superior. They have a different style that I should model someday.
