Historical Reconstruction Project Question

Hello,

I am directing a class project where each student will be recreating a building that was demolished during Urban Renewal. My plan is to then combine the buildings (which are all along one block) into the block and create an animation.

I have been thinking about ways to connect the reconstructions to the landscape, as well. I have the neighborhood lot maps that were made prior to the demolition of the old neighborhood. I could georeference those maps so that I would then have the specific geolocation data for each of the lots/houses the students are recreating. Would that be useful?

Any advice that anyone might offer on our process as we begin this project would be appreciated. We have Sketchup Pro and QGIS. Thanks in advance.
