[Plugin] Animation - SUalive Free
-
I am really looking forward to the extended versions.
More tutorials would be nice. Also help on how to render the animations. (I use Thea)
I am a mac user btw. hope you get to support Mac fully!!!! -
Hello Chrishe
Extended versions were originally planned by the end of the year but we need to slightly delay based on two factors.
First such soft needs thorough help and tutorials and we wanted detailed videos as regard both but this raises more issues than we expected - greedy bandwith to provide online help as instance. Related to their weight - and size on your hard disk - such help can not install locally. Perhaps we are going back to more conventional help so that saving time and publish SUalive Light and Full earlier but is it worth? Answer is up to you!
Second OSX version demands work we are not able to plan. SketchUp api seems working but not the same about javascript behaviours. The last raises a host of small but numerous complexities that significantly slows down other developments. Be sure we are giving all our best to fully support Osx! in return we hope Mac user to be patient and Windows user not hold it against us!
What is unfortunate is we are on the home stretch but we can't tell when we reach!
You can send us a short e-mail - from our website - if you want us to let you know the release date as soon as we decide.Regards

and an hobby version ?
-
Hello,
We are currently developing a two-side educational version aiming educational institutions.
- One side called 'Teacher' is a full version out of license about professional use.
- One side called 'Student' is a limited full version as regard output aiming classroom only - meaning inside an educational institution.
Question is 'Student' version only in classroom right or should we think about 'Student' version inside and outside of the educational institution - meaning on student pc at home?
What is your take?
Any suggestion welcome.Have a good day

Hi Pilou,
What do you mean 'Hobby version'?

Hello,
We are pleased to announce SUalive Freeis now cross-platform - Windows or Mac Osx.
Thanks to Helen and Hugh, Vincent ( osx59) and some others for the time. That Osx very first version also owns a debt to John ( driven ) for his welcome and wise advices and the nice way he offers to test SUalive user interface.
I would like to tell you nothing would have been possible without your great help. It's an honour for me to have met such friendly people.
If there is anything I can do for you, it will be a pleasure.Have a good week-end

This "trial" plugin is just great !
Looking forward the final version.
Keep up the good job -
SUAlive looks very promising, although the user interface is not very intuitive: I was not able to get anything done till I watched the demo twice.
So far, I did recreate the demo with the interpolation, although after some fiddling it no longer works -- I get an error "Can not animate. No action to play" when pressing the "Run all" button, even though there is a an action (with green check mark) listed in the bottom half of the SUalive window.
Also, I have not been able to define a camera, let alone a path. In the "Camera" tab, there is a text field, but that can't be selected. There is a button "New from window", which opens a new window with some apparently camera settings, but none of the field (name, positions) can be changed, and none of the buttons can be pressed. Perhaps this is intentional (I only have Sketchup Make, perhaps this only works with SketchUp Pro).
Or perhaps, the camera is not yet implemented, like the rotation, translation, scale and layers tabs. At least all of the buttons and fields in those tabs are disabled, and don't work (yet?).
I'm using SUAlive 2.35.60017 on SketchUp Make 2017 on macOS 10.12.6.

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply but we didn’t get the mail – or missed - from the thread
Final version release expected soon. See our website https://www.SUalive.com. We are currently making help – tab on the website right.
macfreek you’re right about intuitive interface. SUalive V1 was far more but quickly faced hard time such way we were not able to make three out of the four animations you may see on the website. We say ‘the devil is in the detail’ and this is so right about animation! If you want an animation process as easy and intuitive as it could – note I don’t use ‘quick’ – I may help regarding general purpose.
- Check your SketchUp model.
- The more animated groups parallel to XYZ model axis, the quicker and better result.
- The less group transformation, the less nasty surprise at run time. You may read about on extension warehouse thread. https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/sualive-free
- Make mental scenario.
- All website animations made this way but you might use a mind-mapping soft. It works although not saving time for short animations.
- Keep always in mind ‘One action, one group’ – action is rotation, translation, scale or path move. Here you are still very likely to adjust your model creating or arranging your groups.
- Have a look on toolbar 'Save and Reload Model' button - small house with star. Does it blink? if so click. Check another time.
- You are ready for animation! Probably any model adjustment to come but as few as you can. Never forget snapshot is a photo at 't' instant of your model. Any following modification might lead to unexpected outcomes. No issue regarding tiny or small animation but none of the website animation was made in one shot. Trial and error also works well here if you don’t lay scenario on a paper.
We are currently trying to improve help adding explanations on training you are talking about and help will be available at any time from our website. This is our last task before releasing Windows versions. Mac OSX are currently under test but I am not still satisfied – I am in charge of. I really hope both Windows and MacOSX available at the same time.
Free version aims tiny projects using interpolation and you can have a tour on other actions but they are SUalive Light or Full version features. See Version tab on our website.
This should lead to animate your model with no trouble and solde issue you were dealing with.
Best Regards
