We are designing an old barn that's being converted to a park public structure and just doing a mock up for clients to get an idea of the final look in sketchup. Now, I just have a background image half sphere in the project of some random trees and clouds. My question: is there a way for me to go to google earth and use like street view to make a 360 degree backdrop for the project. It will not be rendered. Some scene views will simply be added to some sheets as an image file onto some autocad layout sheets. Or is there another way for me to put the actual real life background into the project?

Thanks but I had already watched that video. I don't have any render software or photoshop. I can generate that image that he is using. I can skip all the HDR stuff he's doing and avoid photoshop. He puts the image into sketchup with the render software which I don't have though, so I can't bypass that step.

I tried just making a round wall around my model and then making a new texture out of the image that I generate and putting it on the wall as a back drop but it just tiles it so small it just looks like a solid color. When I right click on it I don't get the option to bring up the pins where you can like keystone the image and scale it. Not sure what that's called, but I can see I don't get that option. I haven't been using sketchup but a month. I'm sure I'm missing something dumb.

I think I might have solved it but it's end of day so maybe tomorrow I can play with it. I was bringing in the image that I could paint but I needed to import the image in as a texture to get the keystone option I mentioned. I think. Tomorrow is another day.

Consider bringing the image in as a watermark / style... here are 2 samples, both with terrain / land images turned on. 1 is using Streetview that I screen captured, the other a photo from someone who stood on the site. After placing the image as a watermark, use the camera tools to adjust the model to match - orbit, zoom, adjust field of view, etc.

            Streetview + terrain / image:

Combining site photos with terrain and terrain image:

Have you tried skp file from my drop link?
There is a sphere with google panorama mapped on it. You just have to change it.
