Auto-sizing text boxes
-
My colleague has (rather explicitly) requested that I ask Sketchup why text boxes do not auto re-size when you increase text size.
He has a good point. I think this feature would save time when working through drawings.
It would also remove this annoying arrow:

Yes it is a good point, Brett although the text box you refer too is actually a bounding box which I assume works a little differently. Annoying all the same.
-
Try right clicking the selection and make sure 'Make Bounded' is active. Box will then expand/contract with text size.

bump: Resolved as in 'solved'?.

Bump: Unresolved.

An additional item, why is that when you flip a note the text isn't smart enough to realize that we can't read backwards, mirrored text? Once flipped, to get the text correct, there are three additional steps required...
- Explode the text and leader (which is annoying)
- Flip the text again so that it is legible
- Hit left or right align so that the text is adjacent to the leader tail.
There is an alternate way of just moving the leader but that also requires multiple steps.
This applies to pretty much all text within Layout for notes, dimensions, section bubbles, grid lines, etc. ACAD has a nice simple toggle called "mirrtext" which easily addresses this.
Pretty pretty please Sketchup/Layout team!

Good point on flipped or mirrored text. We have come to expect computers software to help with more mundane tasks, such as cleaning up text, not work against us.
