How safe is an exported sketchup model?
-
Hello,
i have try any exporter plugins for sketchup.
first: lightup for sketchup
second viso3dwhen i give away this exported files to customer, how strong is it to recompile this files to have a mesh?
i don't want that my hard work will redesigned by other.
why i use this exporters?
now i have a historical project about German history.
this i will give away (if finished) to teachers, students etc.
i will, that i can navigate inside the model.i have try any other software like
Twinmotion, Lumion and LumenRT
only the last one generate me a livecube
that´s what i want however this is sometimes a little bit buggy.
my main targets : navigating and give away and no recompile
pictures and movies can produce many other programs or plugins.
it´s nice, too, however not my main target.thank you

3D PDF is also an option.
-
To show the 3D data the data will be in that file, so I assume that there always be a way to extract them.
-
this was my fear...
cotty you have a PM about screen movie to show a key trokes in the video. i remember me, that you have search this for a long time
@ pixero: not really..i have seen convertors..that can open acrobat 3d files and i could safe this as 3ds etc.
-
To be absolutly safe you could use panoramic renders.
-
Looks great!
Does it have to be interactive?
If not, maybe a movie?I guess any solution with 3d geometry in it has a potential to get hacked but a "compiled" solution is harder. I'm thinking Unity or LumenRT and the likes.

no the movie "Walled In" is only a Movie, produced with Cinema4d and VRay.
the Pictures you can see on the website architecture2brain.com is a part of a publication as Book.
i dont know, i have the german version..could be the publisher have an english version, too.
if you look at the persons in the pictures..this remember me to sketchup
this is a good reasonable compromise..to show the difference east german border patrol, western berlin people and eastern berlin people.
you can see, that the chronology is not right on this page.
one picture is not on this page..how would look the Berlin Wall after 1990.
planned was a double wall on the east side. infrared and ultrasound barrier. sensor-controlled lights ( presence detector)etc.
you see 1989 was the best time frame
Edit:
yes LumenRT is my Favorite, however sometimes buggy.
when i reload the same scene some textures will be black.
animated objects will be possible in the free version?
i have try to produce some parts for a Railsimulator (DoveTail.com) and Trainz (Auran.com)
for Auran Trainz i have an sketchup exporter. this is a "Pandora Box".
since the first version of this plugin i have seen objects from sketchup warehouse inside the game...cool and some times terrible.
not all objects was optimized for games and the user have wondering why the framerate in the game go down or let crash the game....here some in game pictures:
Trabbi (Trabant) from sketchup warehous redered in lightup4sketchup
In Game Trainz
in Game Trainsimulator Dovetail
Actor from the Movie Walled In (c) ART+COM

and here in sketchup -
@pixero, yes this could be a solution however i can´t provide a good interactivity.
my Project is an historical Project (time range 1961-1989) Berlin Wall and Inner German Border.
I will navigate from Point to Point and i will, that the User can open Doors and can inside Buildings etc. What I don´t want is to produce an Egoshooter.
Why i wan´t this?
Now, if you come to Berlin, you will find only a short Part of the Berlin Wall. This show you only one situation. I would show the most Situations in Berlin to understand The Berlin Wall.
The Berlin Wall is not only a military Object or an Object to separate Population it´s Architecture, too. If this Project is finished, i would giveaway this to Teachers, Students (University, College , grade School etc.)
The most Parts was redesigned with original Blueprints.
i have use many books about the Berlin Wall.
on of this Books was this Book:

inspiration was this Video:

I'm not clear on whether those dogs are part of your scene/model...
You can not redistribute any meshes from DAZ3D.
If you include the dogs as meshes in your model or scene and give it out, whether for free or profit that is redistribution.
They will take legal action if they find out.
They are very adamant about that.
If the dogs or other models are billboard components, then that is okay since they were made from a 2D render.
Most purchased or free 3D assets do not allow for redistribution, even if it says it is for commercial use... that just means the rendered image is what you can distribute... not the actual mesh.
Sorry if you know all that already, but I have seen several people innocently make that mistake and then have difficulty later and then end up having the rest of their project ruined or interrupted when they have to fix it.
Good luck. -
@McGyver
My Main Rule is:
all Objects not designed by my self and without permission i dont want use.
i use 3d objects only if i have the permission by the designer or redesigner.
all permissions was send per email.
some permissions was only given, if i write the name in the credits or in the end tile (movie) or end credits. I´m not a person will do to adorn oneself with borrowed plumes.i have no problems to write down all names of developers (Sketchup)
some plugins i use very often, other only one time.
In the credit i write down the Nickname..if Dev´s dont want that i write down the real name.
