French Art Deco center table

Saw this piece today on the 1stdibs.com web site. It's a fairly simple piece known as a gueridon, or center table. It's a piece that would have been placed in the center of a foyer. The original, built sometime in the 1930s, is made of mahogany.

Interesting table, David. It wouldn't fit in our foyer, though.

I'm curious about the textures. Why a horizontal one and a vertical one? And why is the vertical one sized as it is?

Grabbed some mahogany images off the Internet, and they turned out to be very different sizes. Lesson learned.
