Sketchup On Surface Pro?

Isn't Microsoft going to release a x86 Surface?

RTM = Release To Manufacturing - nothing to do with ARM[/off:3js2l828]

So many marketing names. Both Windows 8 and Windows RT are ready for manufacturing (RTM).
-
[Edit] I misread RTM as RT. SketchUp does run on Windows 8 x86 (32 bit, 64 bit), but not on Windows RT / ARM / WOA.
And thus SketchUp does run on the Surface Pro (x86) but on the classic desktop.Windows 8 RT means supporting a different architecture (ARM). SketchUp only supports x86 (and dropped the PowerPC architecture some years ago). I fear it's a decision of marketshare, so it may take some time until ARM devices with Windows are common. If Trimble decides to rewrite the whole user interface for Metro, than it will run on both x86 and ARM.
Most of the opensource ecosystem has toolchains to support all sorts of architectures, so it could be done, but I don't know in what Trimble will invest. Who knows, maybe they rather advance the web version.
(As a critical sidenote: That's the downside of the closed core/open extensions concept. It depends on Google/Trimble/SketchUp to port the core application, and thus our extensions can only run where SketchUp has been ported to. SketchUp is not a platform although they often claim that.)

Is it not RT**F**M by any chance?

Dam it I confused the names lol, it has nothing to do with RTM, in fact I was mentioning the Pro version of the Surface.
So sketchup will run on the PRO version but not on the RT?

On a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet:
Sketch Up 2013 crashes as soon as you open a template.
SketchUp 7 and SketchUp 8 seem to open the default template normally.I have not tried to open a complex file yet.
Just wanted to update everyone on my progress.
I am looking forward to using Sketchup on the Surface Pro.-Larry

It works fine, on the sony vaio duo 11. No crashes no whatsoever. The only downside is that the UI is not quite suited for tablet and stylus uses.

I run sketchup on a surface pro.
There is an issue with the driver from intel that causes bugsplats. There is a lot of discussion in the google groups. The issue arose after a windows update. I restored my system to pre-update and have no problems. I haven't taken the time to determine if the issue has been fixed, I just turned automatic updates off.

So I just got this super cool Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8.1 and downloaded my SketchUp to it. For some reason the keyboard shortcuts to select pen or tape etc. do not work. Also, it would be nice if I could enlarge the toolbar icons...
I'm not much of a blogger and don't know if I am in the right place - unless confusion is the right place. Mike? Gaius? It's overwhelming enough to get used to a new device with new ways of doing most everything ...
Thanks -

ThanksDid you try to go to window > preferences > shortcuts > reset? That should make all your shortcuts function properly.
Also did you try view > toolbars > options > Large icons?

Long time no post,
Anyone with experience running Su on the more recent Surface Pro 4 or a Surface Book?
I am looking at getting one of the two (for photo editing tasks on the go) but it will be a bonus if it could handle SU decently, for the occasional editing. My doles are more medium size, not very complex. Both machines come with 6th Gen i7 processors , 2GB nVidia GC and 16 GB RAM.
Any advice or experience with would be greatly appreciated,
Khintanar
