Render while you work

My models are becoming more complicated as I get more ambitious with Sketchup and LayOut, so I what was once a small problem is starting to get bigger. It is the fact that while I am re-rendering a model view, I cannot use LayOut at all. It is not a big deal with small models, but I am now doing full construction models and drawings, which take a long time to render - all the time, I just twiddle my fingers. So I think it might be time that the guys at Trimble resolved this.
With most computers now multi-core, I was going to suggest that the rendering of views in LayOut be processed by one processor, while the general editing within LayOut is handled by another. The idea being that you can draw, annotate and navigate in LayOut while a view (or views) is still rendering. From how I understand software to work, this feature would be reasonable to implement. ...or is it?
I'd love to know how practical this is for the developers to implement. It would really smooth out my workflow.

If Layout can be ran in two instances, like Sketchup, then you just need to put one instance to produce renders and work out your files in the other instance. Make sure you set your processors affinity in Task Manager if it is the case.
For example,when I am rendering with Keyshot my processor is eaten up entirely. If I try to work in Sketchup at that time I barely can do something. In this case I go to task manager and uncheck one core from Keyshot(by default all the programs use all the cores) so that Sketchup may run freely.I hope it helps !

I know this is an old post, but Sketchup 2015 didn't have this feature, so I am going to bump!

I am not sure if I understand you, or if you haven't quite understood me! If you can indeed run LayOut in two instances with a PC, that sounds very useful (I am Mac only at the moment).
In the picture below, it illustrates what I am wanting to achieve:
The idea being that you can work away on other parts of the drawings while the individual views update. It's a technical challenge for the Sketchup team, which I am sure can be solved, and the rewards are higher levels of productivity for us LayOut users whose models (and ambitions) are getting bigger.
