Mini review on the Kanger K-Simar mod
I received the Kanger K-Simar this morning. This is my mother's new mod to replace the Smoktech SID.
I gotta say I'm blown away by the quality. The stainless steel finish is as good as my Semovar!! Very good quality, it looks great too.
Feels nice and weighty in the hand. Buttons click very well with no rattling. The 18650 battery fits fine, again, no rattling.
The OLED screen is easy to read, displays battery level information and a puff counter with current wattage.
Easy to change power with one click. You can also lock the watts so you don't change the power by mistake in your pocket.
This mod is obviously built to be used with Kanger's Protanks and Aerotanks, the fitment is perfect. For the price I don't think there is anything that can compete. (£30 or $50)
I have a attached some photos. I have placed the Smoktech SID next to the K-Simar. The difference in quality is VERY apparent, the K-Simar weighs a lot more too. Please bear in mind that the SID is only a couple of months old; looks completely battered and no longer functions properly. Both these mods were around the same price.

Also, the Provari V3 is coming out! I won't be getting one but just giving everyone a heads up.
My Provari is 11 months old, still looks as good as new but the button rattles a little at certain angles....appears to be working just fine though. I have been considering a backup unit for a while and there looks to be a few good (and less expensive choices) available.
The cost of the Provari was nearly $200AUS when I bought it......I wonder what the price tag on the new V3 will be ?!
-
Yeah I like the Provari but the price is out of touch IMO. I'm keeping my little one as a spare. Yeah my button on the Provari rattled from day one, but didn't bother me. It's a very solid device but I bet the new one is £250 easily.
If you want a cheap spare mod, Gareth I would highly recommend the Kanger K-Simar. Been testing it for a couple of days and it's great. Feels almost like a Provari in terms of quality and that's unbelievable for 5 times less money!
The K-Simar takes 18650 batteries as standard so need to buy any more. It fits any atomiser with a 510 connection....ie a Kayfun, Protank, Aerotank, Nautilus, Vivi Nova etc...

I bought an e-cig as well, a very cheap one, on a whim. I'm rather surprised as to how effective 'vaping' is. And no tar!

Once you get to the better quality mods and finding good flavors you will do done with the cigs for good.

Well done Stinkie (ironically, we have given up the 'stinkies', and you have joined in...!!).....there is plenty of valuable support in here from Oli & Co if you need their advice.
-
Well done Stinkie. I wish you the best of luck if you choose to continue vaping.
-
Thanks, Oli!

It's starting to happen here in Oz.
E-cigarette freedoms go up in smoke in Qld
E-cigarette smokers in Queensland will soon face the same tough restrictions as those who puff on traditional cigarettes.
Yahoo News (au.news.yahoo.com)
This is bad news.

"E-cigarettes are a significant threat to public health - no e-cigarette has been tested for quality, safety or performance by the Therapeutic Goods Administration," Professor Dunn said.
Forgive me for being ignorant, but he has just said E-Cigs are a "significant threat to public health" and then goes on to say "no E-Cig has been tested for safety".
How does he know they are a threat to public health if no testing has been done?

yeh Oli.....it makes little sense
what I can say though is that the naysayers are a minority with a loud voice (the Cancer Council is one of them)

I am curious to find out how much everyone in here vapes each day.
Approximates will do as it is pretty hard to guage it exactly.
For me, I think I vape around 8 to 10 mls a day. It's probably closer to 8mls on average.
There are a few favourite flavours that I seem to vape very heavily though, Potion Vape's 'Melt Down' is one that seems to disappear in a few hours...!
-
My Kayfun drinks e-liquid for fun. Easy 10ml a day. I'm vaping all the time pretty much, hard not to when you work from home.
That's why I make my own liquid; to save money. My mother and girlfriend also vape my liquid so I normally mix batches of 100ml at a time. Works out at £0.90 to £1 for 10ml, depending on how much flavouring goes in.
Kanger Protanks seem to use less liquid than higher-end atomisers but the flavour isn't as good.
Recently been buying LOTS of Inawera flavour concentrates. The blackcurrant is amazing. My new favourite mix is Inawera Grape and Inawera Blackcurrant. Tastes like Ribena/Grape Soda. mmmmmmm.

My daily vape rotation these days, quite satisfied to stick with it for a long time :
- Joyetech Egrip: very very small, juice tank built in and pocket friendly
- Eleaf Istick (20 Watt regulated mod) + kayfun Lite
- Aspire CF SUB + Eleaf Lemo
E-juices: all day vapes: GoodLife "Nana's Nuts" and GoodLife "Melon Boba".
I bought the much hyped new Aspire Atlantis tank but don't like it.
I prefer the much richer taste and vapor of a Kayfun or Lemo. -

I am curious to know if you quit smoking by this time?

Aw yes, vape porn!!
It's been a while since I've had my photo fix!
Great to see you still vaping like a champ Chris! That pocket egrip looks cool, reminds me of a hip flask....I also really like the billetbox.
-
. The internet is for vape porn.
I love the Egrip, it is the only really pocketable vape in my experience.
And it can take a beating as it is a very solid weighty little wonder.
It takes stock Egrip coils. I only use it's lowest wattage setting and that makes a coil last for weeks. It is a surprisingly smooth and flavorful vape. Joyetech is about to release a little rebuildable base for it that I will be getting.Oh yes, the Billet box seems a great product but a bit too costly imo.

Nice eye candy guys, I'm still using my original Provari, only now I moved from Vivi Nova tanks to Nautilus.
Still vaping strong, down from 22mg nicotine to 6mg.
-
Great work Pete! I've not managed to get down to 6mg yet, still on 12mg.
My provari has been put into storage as a spare. It didn't break, never failed....very good device. Provape have just released the new Provari but I'm stuck with the Svoemesto Semovar for now. The Semovar is great, I just can't fault it, I'll use it until it fails.
I dropped my vape from some scaffold on my house and it survived the impact, I couldn't believe it! They build these things so damn strong!
-
C'mon Oli, choke the vapor!
I'm on 6mg just like Pete. I think you need to make some lower resistance coils, around 1.5, 'cause if I remember, you prefer something like 2.2-2.4 ohm, right? You'll loose some flavor I think, but the TH will mask the fact that you just dropped the nicotine.
I'm still using my trusty mechanical mod, with Kayfun lite, I don't even touch anything else. Tabaco flavor all the way.
