      french deco sideboard.jpg
I saw this French Art Deco sideboard on the 1stdibs.com web site. The original was made in 1930, but the designer is unknown. The big horizontal pieces double as drawer pulls on the right-hand side; on the left, they serve as handles for a drop-down door that reveals shallow slide-out drawers. Modeling it was an excuse to try some new textures I found online, and to fool around with the Shaderlight rendering program.
Let me know what you think.

        Very nice.

I looked at that piece before and thought it must be a challenge to keep the miterer horizontals lined up correctly.

            Thanks, Dave. Merci, Frenchy.
I'll admit that I skimped on details for the slide-out drawers on the left side of the sideboard. The one photo on 1stdibs just didn't give me enough information to work with. It looks as if the drawers have grooved sides, so there is probably a pin in each side of the cabinet that fits in the grooves, but I couldn't be sure. Or maybe there's some sort of sliding guide. I can't tell.
